The Norwesco 2500 gallon black vertical storage tank, our SKU N-40051B, is a rotomoulded polyethylene tank 95 inches in diameter and 91 inches tall, weighing 379 lb empty. It is a wide, settled shape: nearly eight feet across and a little under eight feet to the top of the manway. It comes with a 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting as the outlet and a 16 inch threaded vented manway on top. Norwesco rates it for liquids up to 1.5 specific gravity, which covers water, most liquid fertilizers and many common chemicals; 2500 gallons of water weighs 20850 lb. The resin is FDA compliant per Norwesco, Norwesco lists the tank as NSF 61, the service limit is 120 F, and Norwesco backs it with a 3 year warranty. Black keeps light out of stored water and slows algae.

Where a 2500 gallon tank earns its place
This is the size where a household well system gets real reserve, a small farm gets a day of stock water, a rural property gets a fire reserve worth having, and a rainwater system gets enough storage to ride out a dry month. The wide footprint keeps the manway under eight feet, so you can fill and inspect it from a short step rather than a ladder. It needs a flat, level, continuous surface under the whole 95 inch bottom; a full tank puts over ten tons on that circle, so a poured pad or an existing slab is the normal answer, and our guide to the pad framework for above ground polyethylene tanks gives the thickness and the edge margin. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the sidewall. A 2 inch ball valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight in. Turn it to face the pipe run before tightening, and support the valve and the first length of pipe on their own; the fitting should carry liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top for the fill line, a float switch and a cleaning brush. The vent lets the tank breathe as the level moves; keep it clear.
- Liquid and temperature. At or below 1.5 specific gravity and at or below 120 F. Heavier liquids need the heavy duty version listed below. Check anything other than water against polyethylene before the first fill.
