Where a tall, slim 310 gallon tank goes

This is the slimmest 300 gallon class tank Norwesco makes: 32 inches across and 94 inches tall, which is nearly eight feet. It is the tank for a narrow slot between a building and a fence, the back wall of a tall shop, a corner of a packing shed, or a container based treatment skid where floor space costs more than height. Measure the ceiling and the door before you order; it goes through a door on its side, not standing up. The jobs are rainwater from a shed or barn roof, spray mix and liquid fertilizer at a fill point, a household water reserve on a slow well, and feed water or brine for a treatment plant. Full of water it weighs 2585 lb on a 32 inch circle, so it needs a flat, continuous, level base: a concrete pad, a sound slab or a compacted gravel pad with a sand cap, never soil. What goes in it

Water, liquid fertilizer and the treatment and cleaning chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads. Check anything else in our chemical compatibility guide first, and ask us about anything that is not listed. Liquids heavier than 1.5 times water need a heavy duty tank, and nothing hotter than 120 F belongs in it. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. A 2 inch valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight into it. Fit the valve before the first fill and support it and the first length of pipe on their own so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
2. Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top, 94 inches up, so plan a platform or a ladder to use it. It is wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump, to drop a float or a suction line through, and to reach inside to clean. The vent lets the tank breathe as the level changes.
3. Extra fittings. An overflow near the top, a return line or a second draw-off is a bulkhead fitting through the wall. Tell us before the order and we quote it with the tank. Dry-fit, then hand tight plus a quarter turn.

The tank ships LTL at freight class 300 from Norwesco's St. Bonifacius, Minnesota or Washington Court House, Ohio plant, whichever is nearer to you. On the pallet it is 32 by 32 by 94 inches and 82 lb, and at that length it travels on its side. Only two plants make it, so price the freight before you compare it with the 305 gallon tank. At the tailgate, check the part number against 44034 on the bill of lading, look along the full length of the wall for transit scuffs or cracks, make sure the manway lid is on and turns freely, and fill the tank with water the first time so any problem shows up with something harmless in it.
