The Norwesco 310 Gallon 30 Degree Vertical Cone Bottom Tank (SKU N-62441) is a closed-top, white polyethylene tank rated to a 1.5 specific gravity, sold with its matching poly stand so the 30-degree cone drains fully into a pump, valve, or mixing loop instead of pooling on a flat floor. It stands 72 inches tall on a 43-inch diameter footprint, weighs 121 pounds empty, and comes with a 2-inch outlet at the cone tip and an 8-inch lid up top. If you have searched for a 310 gallon vertical cone bottom Norwesco tank on a stand, this is the configuration built to let solids and slurries settle and empty completely.

Will it work for your job?

Rated capacity is 310 gallons. Plain water fills to roughly 2,585 pounds; at the tank's full 1.5 specific gravity rating the contents can reach about 3,878 pounds, so size the stand pad and anchoring to the heaviest liquid you plan to run, not to water. The molded polyethylene is FDA approved and carries a maximum service temperature of 120 F / 48 C, so keep hot or exothermic processes below that line. The 2-inch cone outlet suits gravity draw-down and pump feed, and the 8-inch lid gives access for fill, gauging, and cleaning. Run fill height and drawdown through our Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide before you plumb it.

Chemical compatibility

This tank is polyethylene (HDLPE) rated for 1.5 specific gravity. Because the resin classification is unconfirmed in our data, confirm whether you need standard HDLPE or cross-linked (XLPE) before committing it to chemical service. The pairings below are cross-referenced against the Snyder Industries OEM chemical-resistance chart; because it is a Norwesco tank, also confirm against Norwesco's own chart for your resin. Compatibility is concentration- and temperature-specific, so match your exact chemical, concentration, temperature, and fitting and gasket materials to that chart before you buy.

Chemicals this 1.5-SG tank can handle include Acetic Acid at 60% (PP/PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets), Aluminum Sulfate at 50% (PVC, EPDM), Calcium Chloride at 40% (PVC, EPDM), DEF at 32.5% (316SS, EPDM), Ferrous Sulfate at 20% (PVC, EPDM), Magnesium Chloride at 30% (PVC, EPDM), Sodium Carbonate at 30% (PVC, EPDM), Urea Solution at 50% (PP/PVC, EPDM), and Ozonated Water up to 10 PPM (PVC, EPDM). DEF and urea solution only require a 1.35-SG tank, so this 1.5 rating covers them with margin. Note that the fittings block ships empty: the 2-inch cone outlet and 8-inch lid are your port locations, but chemical-appropriate fittings and gaskets in the materials above are selected and sourced separately, not included. See the technical drawing on this page for exact port positions.

The mistake to avoid

Do not put a heavier-density chemical into this 1.5-SG tank. Running Hydrochloric Acid (37%), Sulfuric Acid (98%), Ferric Chloride (50%), Sodium Hypochlorite (under 16.5%), Hydrogen Peroxide (50%), Phosphoric Acid (85%), or Ethylene Glycol (100%) all require a higher-rated 1.9-SG tank, and most demand Viton rather than EPDM gaskets. Watch the exceptions: Sulfuric Acid at 98% pairs with CPVC fittings and Viton (not plain PVC), and Peracetic Acid at 30% needs 316SS fittings with Aflas gaskets. If your process is one of these, do not underrate the wall for the fluid weight. Verify every chemical against our Chemical Compatibility Database first.

Running HCl, sulfuric, ferric chloride, hypochlorite, peroxide, or phosphoric acid? Call 866-418-1777 and we will spec the heavier-wall 1.9-SG cone-bottom equivalent.
