Where it goes
This tank lives on a vehicle: a pest control pickup, a lawn care rig, a small sprayer trailer or a utility vehicle doing weed control along fence lines. At 38 by 19 inches it sits across a pickup bed against the cab or lengthwise in a service body, and at 22 inches tall it clears a tonneau or a cap on most trucks, so measure the opening before you order. Bolt a frame or a cradle to the bed and strap the tank into it; a loose 417 lb of water moving around a bed in a hard stop will find the tailgate. Put the pump and the hose reel where the hose runs away from the tank and the lid stays reachable for refilling. On a bench in the shop it needs a flat, continuous surface under the whole base.
What goes in it
Water with pesticide, herbicide, termiticide or fertilizer concentrate mixed in, which is what polyethylene handles well and what this tank is made for. Mix in the order the product label gives: water first, concentrate through the lid, then top up and agitate. Liquids heavier than 1.5 times water are outside the rating. Rinse the tank at the end of the day and never leave a finished mix in it over a weekend; the label on the concentrate is the authority on disposal of the rinse water. Openings and fittings
- Lid. An 8 inch threaded vented lid on top: wide enough to pour from a jug, fill from a hose and get a hand in to clean. The vent lets air in as the pump draws, so the tank is not sucked flat on a long run of spraying.
- Suction take-off. Norwesco's data for this tank lists no outlet fitting. Tell us where the pump suction comes off, low on an end or down through the lid, and we confirm what the tank ships with and what bulkhead fitting you add. A bulkhead fitting needs a flat area of wall wider than its flange, and the drawing shows where that is.
