Where it goes
This is the size for a starter fertilizer tank on a small planter, a spray tank on a compact tractor or a UTV, or a chemical tank riding beside a larger water tank on an applicator. Full of water the contents alone weigh close to 460 lb, so the frame and the brackets, not the tank, decide whether it belongs where you want it. Mounting hardware is not part of the tank; the saddle shape gives the brackets a shape to hold, and the drawing linked on this page gives the dimensions to build or buy them from. What goes in it
Liquid fertilizer, water and the crop protection products that polyethylene handles are the normal loads. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 3/4 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed. A small ball valve, a hose adapter or a pump suction threads straight into it. Support the valve and the first length of hose so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware; on a machine that vibrates, that support matters more than it does on a stationary tank.
- Inlet. None is fitted. Fill through the lid.
- Lid. A 5 inch threaded vented lid on top: big enough to fill from a hose and to pour from a jug, and the vent lets the tank breathe as it empties so the pump does not pull the wall in. Rinse the tank through the lid and drain it through the outlet.
