Where a 65 gallon vertical tank goes

At 23 inches across this is one of the few tanks that fits through a standard doorway standing up and sits in a corner of a utility room, a well house or a pump shed. The usual jobs are a day tank for a chemical feed pump, a holding tank for a small water treatment system, a mixing tank for spray solution, and emergency water for a cabin or a shop. Full of water it weighs about 542 lb, so it needs a flat, continuous floor under the whole base but not an engineered pad; a level slab or a solid floor is enough. If it is going outside on soil, put it on a pad of compacted sand or a paving slab so the base is supported edge to edge. What goes in it

Water, liquid fertilizer and the common treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads. Check anything else against our chemical compatibility guide before it goes in, and ask us if it is not on the list. Liquids heavier than 1.5 times water need a heavy duty tank, not this one, and nothing hotter than 120 F should be stored in it. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 1-1/4 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. A valve or hose adapter threads straight into it. Support the valve and the first length of hose so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
2. Lid. An 8 inch threaded vented lid on top. It is big enough to fill from a hose and drop a float switch through, and the vent lets air in and out as the level changes so the tank never pulls a vacuum when a pump draws from it. It is not wide enough to get an arm inside; cleaning is done by flushing.
3. Extra fittings. If you need a second outlet, an overflow or a return line, tell us before the order and we can quote the bulkhead fitting with the tank. Dry-fit any added fitting before tightening it.
