A 750 gallon white elliptical cradle tank with a full 2 inch outlet
The Norwesco 750 gallon horizontal elliptical cradle tank in white, part number 40329, is a polyethylene tank 88 inches long, 69 inches wide and 48 inches tall, weighing 219 lb empty. The elliptical cross section keeps the centre of gravity low and the manway within reach, which is why the larger cradle tanks go on nurse trailers, sprayer frames and truck decks where a round tank of the same volume would ride too high. It comes with a 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting at the outlet and a 16 inch threaded vented manway on top. Where it goes
A cradle tank has no legs. It is shaped to sit in a cradle or saddle that follows its curve, and that frame carries the load to the deck or the chassis. No cradle is listed with this tank; if you are building the mount, work from the Norwesco drawing linked on this page under Technical Drawing, and if you want us to source a cradle, say so when you call. At 88 by 69 inches it takes most of the width of a trailer deck, and at 48 inches tall the manway is reached from the deck. Full of water the tank and its load come to more than three tons, and more with fertilizer, so the trailer's axle and tongue ratings decide this, not the tank. What goes in it
Liquid fertilizer, water and the crop and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles. Check the product against our chemical compatibility guide before the first fill; the entries cradle tank buyers ask about most are urea solution, DEF, calcium chloride, magnesium chloride and sodium hypochlorite. Liquids heavier than 1.5 times water need a heavy duty tank, and nothing hotter than 120 F should go in.
Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed. Your valve, camlock or pump suction threads straight in, and 2 inches is the size a transfer pump wants. Support the valve and the first length of hose so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top: wide enough to fill from a hose or a nurse line, to drop a float in, and to get a hand and a brush inside to clean.
