Why a low profile two compartment tank
In most of Florida the water table sits close to the surface and the drain field has to stay above it, so the tank between the house and the field cannot be deep. A low profile tank keeps the inlet and outlet inverts high while still holding 1050 gallons, which is the size most Florida counties call for on a three bedroom house; the county's sizing table, not this page, sets the number for your permit. What to check before you buy
- The state. Florida only. If the tank is going anywhere else, call us and we will point you to the model approved for your state.
- The permit. Capacity, compartments and accepted models are the county's call; get it in writing before the order.
- Inlet and outlet. Both 4 inch gasketed PVC tee assemblies, factory fitted. The 4 inch sewer line glues to them; the gaskets seal the wall and the tees keep scum off the outlet.
- The manways. Two 20 inch gasketed manways, one over each compartment, so both chambers can be pumped. Risers to grade are the installer's addition and depend on the burial depth.
- The hole. 127 inches long, 60 inches wide, and shallow. An empty plastic tank is light enough for groundwater to lift, so follow Norwesco's installation instructions for bedding, backfill and filling with water as the hole is filled.
