The Norwesco 1250 gallon low profile septic tank, part number 43497, is a green polyethylene one-compartment septic tank 157 inches long, 60 inches wide and 51 inches tall, weighing 416 lb empty. It puts 1250 gallons in a hole just over four feet deep plus bedding, for sites on rock, on a high water table, or where the house drain arrives close to grade. It comes with a 4 inch adapter and PVC tee assembly at the inlet and another at the outlet, and a 20 inch gasketed manway on top. Where a low profile 1250 goes
Twelve hundred fifty gallons is the step between the two most common single-family septic sizes, and many codes land a three or four bedroom house on it. The low shell is the reason to pick this version: the top of the tank sits shallow, so a drain that leaves the house near grade still falls into the inlet with slope to spare, and the excavation stays above water and rock. At 157 inches long it goes in a trench set by a machine, not a pit dug by hand. Openings and fittings
- Inlet. A 4 inch adapter with PVC tee assembly, installed. Your 4 inch house drain connects at the adapter.
- Outlet. A 4 inch adapter with PVC tee assembly, installed, at the far end. If your code requires an effluent filter in the outlet tee, tell us before the order.
- Manway. One 20 inch gasketed manway on top for inspection and pumping. Plan a riser to grade.
- Approval. This plain tank is not in Norwesco's IAPMO listed group; the two compartment versions linked below are the ones Norwesco lists as IAPMO approved. Check what your county requires before choosing between them, and ask us if you are not sure.
- Setting it. Follow Norwesco's installation instructions for bedding, backfill and water in the tank during backfill. Keep it out from under drives and vehicle paths.
