The Norwesco 1500 gallon low profile septic tank, part number 43531, is a green polyethylene septic tank 157 inches long, 69 inches wide and 51 inches tall, weighing 574 lb empty. The low shape is the point: a full 1500 gallons in a hole just over four feet deep plus bedding, for sites with rock, a high water table or a shallow outlet pipe. It comes with a 4 inch gasketed PVC tee assembly at the inlet and another at the outlet, and a 20 inch gasketed manway on top. Norwesco rates it to 130 F, lists it as IAPMO approved, lists its state septic approval as Florida, and backs it with a 5 year warranty. Where a low profile 1500 goes
Fifteen hundred gallons is the common single-family septic size for a four or five bedroom home in most codes. The low profile shell puts that volume in a shallow excavation, which is what you need when the inlet from the house arrives close to grade, when water or rock shows up early, or when the drainfield is downhill only a little. At 157 inches long it needs a trench, not a pit, and a machine that can set 574 lb gently onto the bedding. Full of water it holds about 12510 lb, which is why Norwesco's instructions have you fill as you backfill. Openings and fittings
- Inlet. A 4 inch gasketed PVC tee assembly, installed. Your 4 inch house drain pushes into the gasket; no solvent weld at the tank.
- Outlet. A 4 inch gasketed PVC tee assembly, installed, at the other end. If your code calls for an effluent filter in the outlet tee, tell us before the order.
- Manway. One 20 inch gasketed manway on top for inspection and pumping. Plan a riser to grade so the pumper does not have to dig.
- Approval. Norwesco lists this model as IAPMO approved and lists its state septic approval as Florida. Outside Florida, check your county against the drawing and the IAPMO listing before you order; we can tell you which of Norwesco's 1500 gallon tanks carries your state.
- Setting it. Follow Norwesco's installation instructions for bedding, backfill and water during backfill. Keep it out from under any drive or vehicle path.
The other 1500 gallon low profile tanks
This is the plain one-compartment tank. The same shell comes as the 1500 gallon preplumbed one compartment septic tank, the 1500 gallon preplumbed two compartment septic tank and the 1500 gallon two compartment tank with loose plumbing. Many codes now require two compartments; check yours first. One size down is the 1250 gallon low profile septic tank.

Norwesco's shipping weight for it is 388 lb against a 574 lb tank weight; ask us before you book a liftgate so the carrier plans for the heavier figure. The listed price is before freight; the freight cost estimator gives the lane cost to your ZIP. A thirteen foot tank needs a machine or several people at the tailgate. Check 43531 against the bill of lading, look over both tees and the manway lip for transit damage, and set it on prepared bedding, never on the ground beside the hole for a week.
