What to check before you buy

1. The tank. The 750 gallon elliptical. Norwesco pairs each elliptical tank with its own skid, and a skid formed for another size leaves the shell bridging between contact points. Tell us the tank part number and we confirm the pair before anything ships.
2. The deck. The skid needs a flat, continuous 78 by 38 inch area under it. On a pickup or a trailer, measure the bed between the wheel wells and the headache rack before you order; 78 inches is longer than many short beds.
3. The weight on the deck. The skid spreads the load; it does not reduce it. A full 750 gallon tank of water weighs over three tons before the tank and the skid are counted, so the vehicle's payload rating, not the skid, is usually the limit.
4. Tie-downs. The skid is what you chain to the deck. Norwesco's drawing, linked on this page under Technical Drawing, shows the frame and its anchor points; ask us what hardware comes with it.

Setting it up

Put the skid in its final position first and check it with a level across both diagonals; a skid that rocks on a deck works its welds loose on the road. Set the empty tank into it, turn the tank so the outlet points where the plumbing will run, and fit the bands that hold the tank to the skid before the first fill. Fill with water the first time so any problem shows up with something harmless in the tank. On a vehicle, chain the skid to the deck at the frame, never over the tank, and re-check the chains after the first loaded trip. The skid ships LTL at 78 by 38 by 36 inches and 208 lb, under NMFC 95190-03, from Norwesco's plant in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota, or Washington Court House, Ohio, whichever is nearer.
