The Snyder Industries 1000 Gallon XLPE Heavy Duty Cone Bottom Tank is built for chemical-feed and storage duty where ordinary polyethylene is not enough. The crosslinked linear polyethylene (XLPE) wall carries a 1.9 specific gravity rating, so it handles heavy, dense chemistries that would over-stress a standard HDPE tank. With a 1000 gallon working capacity, an 86 x 86 in. footprint, and a 66 in. height, this Natural White cone bottom holds full contents and drains completely through the cone for batch mixing, dosing, and full-clean turnover.

Will it work for your application?

Empty of contents, a full water load is about 8,340 lb; at the tank's maximum rated specific gravity the contents weight reaches roughly 15,846 lb, so size your stand, pad, and cone-bottom support accordingly. The 86 x 86 in. footprint and 66 in. fill-access height set your containment pad and overhead clearance, and because this is a cone bottom tank it cannot stand on its own base - it must sit in a steel or poly stand rated for the full 15,846 lb maximum contents load. Use the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide to confirm capacity and loading for your site before you commit. The Cone Bottom Tank Stand Compatibility Matrix covers Norwesco, Snyder, and Enduraplas options, and the 1000 Gallon 45 Degree Cone Bottom Tank buyer's guide walks through the full setup. Per the technical drawing on this page, the tank ships outfitted with a flange, a 10 in. polyethylene threaded and vented fitting, a fill cap with a 7 in. access opening, and a top fitting.

Chemical compatibility

This tank is crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) with a 1.9 specific gravity rating, which is what lets it carry dense and aggressive chemistries. The crosslinked structure resists stress cracking and environmental attack better than standard polyethylene - the Snyder XLPE vs HDPE guide explains exactly when crosslinking earns its place in chemistry duty. One thing to plan for: the tank arrives with polyethylene fittings, but nearly every chemistry below needs its wetted fittings sourced in PVC, PP, or 316 stainless, so do not assume the supplied 10 in. PE fitting is chemical-rated for your service. Match every fitting and gasket to the chemical you are storing. Based on the OEM chemical-resistance chart, which is concentration- and temperature-specific, this tank suits the following at the noted concentrations:

Note the gasket calls: most pairings use EPDM, but Hydrofluosilicic Acid requires Viton, and DEF and propylene glycol service call for 316 stainless fittings. Always confirm against the OEM chemical-resistance chart at your actual concentration and temperature before ordering, and see the full Chemical Compatibility Database for cross-references.

The mistake to avoid

The most common error on a cone bottom chemical tank is matching the tank rating but mismatching the gasket. The 1.9 specific gravity XLPE shell can carry these chemistries, but a default EPDM gasket on a Hydrofluosilicic Acid line will fail where Viton holds - verify the fitting and gasket material for your specific chemical, not just the tank. The second is undersizing the support: this is a cone bottom, so it cannot stand on its own base and must sit in a stand rated for the full 15,846 lb maximum contents load. And do not run service denser than the 1.9 specific gravity rating - the rating is the ceiling, not a target to push past.

This Snyder cone bottom ships LTL, freighted from the nearest Snyder plant - Chowchilla, CA or Lincoln, NE - with the rate quoted live to your ZIP. West-of-Rockies sites pull from Chowchilla and Midwest or Eastern sites from Lincoln, so the Freight Estimator picks the closer plant by your ZIP rather than billing cross-country miles.
