Small, low and out of the light

This is a tank you can put almost anywhere. At 41 inches tall it fits under a counter run, a low shelf or a truck canopy, and the top is near waist height, so filling and cleaning happen without a step. The 33 inch circle takes little floor, and at 45 lb two people carry it easily. Measure doorways on the way in; a 33 inch body is close to the clear width of many interior doors.

Black keeps light out of the tank. That is what keeps algae out of stored water and what protects liquids that sunlight breaks down, so black is the right colour for a tank outdoors, in a greenhouse, or in a room with windows. The trade is heat: a black wall in full sun warms the contents, and this tank's service limit is 120 F. In a hot climate, shade it.

The heavy duty wall carries a 1.9 specific gravity rating, so it handles liquids nearly twice as heavy as water as well as water. What to check before you buy

1. The outlet. The size is not stated clearly enough here for us to print it. Call us and we will read the outlet size and position off Snyder's drawing before you buy the valve, hose or pipe.

3. Level. A black wall hides the liquid; plan a sight tube or gauge.
4. Restraint. At 45 lb empty, strap it down so wind or a moving vehicle cannot shift it.
