Where this tank earns its keep

This is the size that replaces a rack of drums: a day tank on a chemical feed skid, hypochlorite or a coagulant at a small water system, an acid bath makeup tank in a finishing shop, a nutrient concentrate in a greenhouse headhouse, or a laboratory waste collection vessel that has to be dark. Full, the whole load bears on a 30 inch circle, so a concrete floor wants to be level and in full contact under the base rather than crowned; a new pad follows the concrete pad sizing guide, with containment sized to the tank where the liquid is regulated. Openings and what to confirm before you buy

1. Manway. An 18 inch threaded vented manway on top, 41 inches up. No ladder, no platform: a person standing flat on the floor can put a light inside it, run a hand around the threads and reseat the gasket.
2. Outlet. The manway is the only opening listed for this tank. Tell us the liquid and the draw-off arrangement you want when you order and we will confirm what can be fitted.
3. Vent and fill. Run a dip tube through the opening to the floor so the stream does not splash the headspace, pipe the vent outdoors on a fuming liquid, and size it to whatever pump fills the tank, drum pump or truck.

The tank ships LTL at freight class 250 from Snyder's plant in Philippi, WV, 30 by 30 by 41 inches and 45 lb on the pallet. It still prices against the lane and the deck space rather than the mass, so put your ZIP into the freight cost estimator before you order. Forty-five pounds comes off a liftgate by hand; carry it by the base and never by the manway, because the threads that seal the lid are not a handle. Check the part number against 1012700N48 on the bill of lading and look at the base edge, the manway threads and the vent while the driver is still there. Fill it with water to the manway, stand it overnight where it will live, and look under the base in the morning, using the hold time from the hydrostatic test methodology article. Drain it and let it dry before the chemical arrives.
