Snyder Industries 12500 Gallon Sulfuric Acid Double Wall Tank

Where it goes

This is a bulk receiving tank: the one a tanker unloads into at a water treatment plant, a fertilizer or chemical blending site, a metal finishing shop or a power plant, with the day tanks and feed pumps drawn from it. Size it so a full delivery fits with freeboard to spare. The double wall is the containment. Snyder names this tank for sulfuric acid and does not publish a concentration on it, so tell us the acid strength and temperature and we will confirm the tank with Snyder before the order. The pad, the openings and what to check

1. The pad. Close to a hundred tons at the full rating sits on a 142 inch circle. That is an engineered slab on prepared ground, poured and cured before the tank ships. Our guide to concrete pad sizing for above ground polyethylene tanks sets out the framework your engineer will use.
2. Height. At 274 inches tall, check overhead lines, canopies and the reach of the fill line before you pick the spot, and leave room above the manway to work.
3. Manway. An 18 inch threaded vented manway on top, for inspection, a level transmitter and the fill. The vent lets air out while a tanker unloads; size the fill rate with that in mind.
4. Fittings. No factory outlet is listed. Tell us the fitting sizes, materials and positions your piping needs; on a double wall tank they pass through both walls and are set at the factory.
5. Level. Opaque white does not show the liquid line, so plan a gauge or a transmitter.
