200 gallons on a 33 inch footprint

This is the mould to pick when floor space is the constraint. A 33 inch circle fits against a wall, between a building and a fence, or in the corner of a pump room, and the tank makes up its volume in height: 69 inches is close to six feet. That height has consequences. The top is above eye level for most people, so filling and inspection need a hose run to the top, a pump or a step. A tall tank is also easier to tip, especially empty at 80 lb, so strap it to a wall or a frame and set it on a dead level base before the first fill. And check the ceiling and the door frame on the way in: a six foot tank tipped back on a hand truck needs more clearance than it does standing.

Black polyethylene keeps light out, which holds back algae in water stored outside and protects liquids that sunlight degrades. It also soaks up heat in full sun, and the service limit here is 120 F, so shade it in hot climates. What to check before you buy

1. The base. A tall tank concentrates its load: over a ton and a half full of a dense liquid, on a 33 inch circle. Flat, level and in full contact with the base; our concrete pad sizing guide explains the slab.
2. The outlet. An outlet is listed for this tank, but its size is not stated clearly enough here for us to print it. Call us and we will read the outlet size and position off Snyder's drawing before you buy the valve.
3. Level. A black wall hides the liquid; plan a sight tube or gauge.
