Buy this one when the liquid is the acid the sheet names it for and the room is narrower than it is tall. Three other walls are molded in this same 34 by 83 inch shell, listed separately and each rated as its own sheet says: one named for a different chemical duty, one in a black cross-linked wall with a higher service limit, and one general-duty black tank. They share the footprint and the manway, so the choice between them is a chemistry and temperature question and not a fit question. Against the general-duty 1008100 shells in the table, this tank trades a few inches of floor for nearly two feet of height; against the 5740100N42, it trades a great deal of floor for the same. The outlet field says manway, and the acid duty says name it at order

• Outlet: the sheet gives the outlet as "1 Manway / Lid" and no bottom fitting size anywhere. On an acid tank that is a specification to settle in writing rather than a blank to fill in on site, so tell us the acid and the draw-off arrangement at order and we confirm what the molding takes, in what material, with what gasket, before anything is drilled.
• Listed opening: a 14 inch threaded, vented manway at 83 inches. That is overhead work, which means a fixed platform with a rail and a gate, or a tied-off platform ladder, and a permanent fill connection landed at the manway so nobody lifts a delivery hose seven feet.
• Fill and vent: a dip tube to the floor so a dense acid does not free-fall the height of the shell and splash the headspace and the gasket, the vent piped outdoors, and the vent sized to the delivery truck's pump rather than to the fitting that happens to be there.
• Service limit: 120 F / 48 C, which matters on an acid that gives up heat when it meets water. Warranty: 3 year.

What hangs below the listed opening is where acid tanks come to grief. Whatever draw-off is fitted gets carried on its own support off the pad with a flexible connector between the tank and hard pipe, never rigid pipe bolted to the shell, because 83 inches of dense liquid standing above a base fitting puts more static pressure on it than the same fitting sees on a squat tank. Vapour in the headspace works on the wall above the liquid line harder than the liquid works on the wall below it, so that band is what gets inspected with a light every time the manway opens. Keep the manway threaded and closed between deliveries, put the acid's name on the wall where the driver reads it from the cab, and keep a spare gasket on the shelf, because it is the part that fails on a holiday.
