The Snyder Industries 275 Gallon Vertical Double Wall Liquid Chemical Storage Tank is a containment-integrated chemical tank: a primary tank nested inside a secondary containment wall, so a primary breach is caught without a separate berm. It is molded in white High Density Linear Polyethylene (HDLPE) and carries a 1.9 specific gravity rating, which is the heavy-duty end of the chemical-tank range and lets this tank handle dense acids and concentrated solutions. Footprint is a compact 47 x 47 inches at 63 inches tall, so this vertical storage tank drops into a tight pad or secondary-containment cell without sprawling.

Will it work for your install?

At 275 gallons, a full charge of plain water weighs about 2,294 lb; against the 1.9 SG rating the tank is built to carry up to roughly 4,358 lb of contents, so you have real headroom for dense chemistry rather than a water-only number that quietly fails under acid. A quick way to size any in-between chemistry: multiply the 2,294 lb water weight by your fluid's specific gravity (a 1.5 SG acid lands near 3,440 lb). Confirm that filled weight against the slab and any structural support before you set it. Plumbing is straightforward: this double wall tank carries an 18" PE threaded/vented top fitting and a manway with 15" access for inspection, cleaning, and gauge or level-sensor installs. Any field-cut penetration must be made through the primary tank only - a port driven into the secondary wall destroys containment. See the technical drawing on this page for exact fitting locations and port elevations, and use the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide to confirm 275 gallons matches your turnover and freeboard needs.

Chemical compatibility

This is an HDLPE tank rated to 1.9 specific gravity - the top of the vertical chemical-tank range, so no heavier-rated vertical is needed above it. If your chemistry exceeds 1.9 SG, call 866-418-1777 for a consult rather than reaching for a different SKU. The chemicals below come from the OEM chemical-resistance chart, which is concentration- and temperature-specific - match your exact concentration and operating temperature before ordering, and pair the tank with the listed fitting and gasket materials:

Always verify your exact concentration and temperature against the OEM chemical-resistance chart before ordering, and browse our full Chemical Compatibility Database for the chemicals above.

The mistake to avoid

The costly error on a double-wall chemical tank is under-rating specific gravity or mismatching fitting and gasket materials to the chemistry. Read the gasket column as a default with exceptions: everything on the list above runs EPDM gaskets except the seven Viton chemicals - hydrochloric, hydrofluoric, hydrofluosilicic, hydrogen peroxide, phosphoric, sodium hypochlorite, and sulfuric - plus the one Aflas chemical, peracetic acid, where EPDM will fail. Sulfuric at 98% also wants CPVC fittings rather than PVC. Size your freeboard for thermal expansion before you fill; our freeboard sizing guide walks the calculation, and for SPCC duty review the SPCC 40 CFR 112 compliance walkthrough, level gauge selection, and spillover redundancy engineering before loadout.
