A warm pad, a black wall, and wind on an empty tank

Sites that need the higher service limit tend to be the sites that punish tanks in other ways too, so walk the location first. A boiler room, a wash bay, a south-facing pad in the desert, a roof deck beside condenser units: warm air, warm liquid and full sun all at once. This shell answers the heat twice, once with the cross-linked wall the sheet lists to 140 F / 60 C and once with the black colour, which passes no light at all into the liquid and takes the ultraviolet that ages a pale shell outdoors. The colour costs you the level, because you cannot see through a black wall, so a sender and a local readout are part of the install rather than an upgrade. Height is the other site question: 83 inches wants a 96 inch ceiling to leave room for the fill and the vent above the manway, and a tall shell on a 34 inch circle is the easiest shape in the range for a gust to move while it is empty, so bands to structure or to slab anchors go on the day the tank lands, get checked after the first storm, and get checked again at the end of the first hot summer, because a black wall in the sun grows a little every day and what was tight in spring is loose in August. Three of them are molded in this same 34 by 83 inch shape and listed separately, each rated as its own sheet says: two named for specific chemical duties in a white wall, and one general-duty black tank at the lower service limit. The 1008100N42 in the table is the other cross-linked tank at this volume, in a shorter, slightly wider shell for a room with a low ceiling. If the ceiling is the binding constraint rather than the heat, that is the tank to compare against; if the heat is the constraint, this shell is the answer and the height is the price of it. What the sheet lists at the top, and what gets specified at order

• Outlet: the field reads "1 Manway / Lid" and the sheet gives no bottom fitting size. That is printed as it stands, not read as a pipe size. Tell us the liquid, its working temperature and the draw-off you want at order, and we confirm what this molding accepts and in what material, because a fitting and a gasket that hold at room temperature are not automatically the right ones at the top of this tank's range.
• Listed opening: a 14 inch threaded, vented manway at 83 inches, which is platform work rather than ladder work, with a permanent fill line landed at the manway so nobody handles a hose overhead.
• Fill and vent: a dip tube to the floor so a warm liquid does not cascade and flash inside the headspace, the vent piped outdoors on anything that fumes, and the vent sized to the delivery pump. A warm liquid breathes more than a cold one, so the vent is sized for the fill rate and then checked as a habit.

Heat is what makes the plumbing discipline non-negotiable here. Polyethylene moves with temperature, so every run leaving the base is carried on its own support off the pad with a flexible connector between tank and hard pipe, and nothing rigid is ever bolted straight to the shell; a pipe run that was neatly aligned cold will not be aligned hot. The headspace of a warm tank is the part of the wall that ages first, so the light goes on the band above the liquid line every time the manway is open, and the date goes on the log. Keep the manway threaded and shut between deliveries, put the one liquid's name on the wall where a driver reads it, and where the site also freezes, protect the base piping and the first valve rather than the body.

Hot-side chemistry and cross-linked duty

This is the tank for the warm end of a process: a heated cleaning or caustic solution, a hot wash-water makeup tank, a plating or finishing bath feed that arrives warm, a boiler or cooling chemistry skid, and any outdoor pad in a hot climate where the liquid never really cools down at night. Two people lift 75 pounds off the trailer, straps under the body and never through the manway, and the tank sets on the cured pad rather than on gravel it will be dragged off later. Fill it with cold water to the manway and hold it there long enough to walk the base and the pad edge twice before anything warm ever goes in, then drain and dry it; the cold hydrostatic test is the cheap way to find a pad problem, and a warm liquid is the expensive way.
