The Norwesco 30 Gallon Applicator Saddle Tank (N-41799) is a white polyethylene saddle tank built for sprayer rigs, fertilizer applicators, and utility fleet use where a low, saddle-mount profile matters. It holds 30 gallons, weighs 16 lb empty, and carries a 1.5 specific gravity rating and FDA-approved resin with a 120 F / 48 C maximum service temperature. Nominal footprint is a 23-inch diameter saddle body measuring roughly 26 in high by 21 in wide by 26 in long, fitted with a 5-inch lid and a 0.75-inch outlet.

Will it work for your job

This is a haul-and-apply saddle tank, so plan around weight before you plan around gallons. Filled with water the 30 gallons runs about 250 lb, and the tank is rated to carry up to 375 lb of contents at its 1.5 SG limit. That contents weight, not the volume, is what your saddle brackets, frame, and mounting hardware have to hold on rough ground. Run the numbers with our Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide before you spec brackets. The 5-inch lid handles fill and inspection, the 0.75-inch outlet feeds your pump or plumbing, and the technical drawing on this page gives the exact port and saddle geometry for your mount. If you are running this Norwesco applicator tank behind a rig, our guides on applicator and leg tanks for fertilizer and loaf-style portable utility tanks and the 49 CFR 173.5 exemption cover the DOT scope.

Chemical compatibility

This tank is molded polyethylene with a 1.5 SG rating (resin listed as HDLPE with a question mark, so confirm HDLPE vs XLPE before any chemical service). Per the Snyder Industries OEM chemical-resistance chart — which is concentration and temperature specific — a 1.5 SG tank suits fluids such as acetic acid (60%), aluminum sulfate (50%), calcium chloride (40%), DEF (32.5%), ferrous sulfate (20%), magnesium chloride (30%), sodium carbonate (30%), urea solution (50%), and ozonated water (up to 10 PPM, listed on the OEM chart without a dedicated page). Match fittings and gaskets to the fluid: most of these call for PVC or PP bodies with EPDM gaskets — acetic acid and urea both accept PP or PVC — while DEF requires 316SS with EPDM. Note that DEF and urea solution only need a 1.35 SG rating, comfortably under this tank's 1.5, so the real constraint for those two is fitting and gasket material, not wall density. Confirm your exact chemical, concentration, temperature, and fitting and gasket materials against the chemical compatibility chart first.

The mistake to avoid

Do not put a heavier-density chemical in a 1.5 SG tank. Fluids like ethylene glycol (100%), ferric chloride (50%), hydrochloric acid (37%), hydrogen peroxide (50%), phosphoric acid (85%), sodium hypochlorite, sulfuric acid (98%), and peracetic acid (30%) all require a higher 1.9 SG tank — and the gasket changes too: sulfuric, hydrochloric, phosphoric, hydrogen peroxide, and sodium hypochlorite need Viton, while peracetic acid needs Aflas. Putting them in this tank overstresses the wall and shortens its life. For those jobs, step up to a 1.9 SG-rated tank instead — call 866-418-1777 and we will match the tank, fitting, and gasket to your fluid. When in doubt, confirm the SG rating against your chemical before you fill.
