Ten ship-from states, six plants, one small tank

The freight picture on this record is the broadest in the slice and the least tidy. Ten states appear in the ship-from field: California, Georgia, Iowa, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah and Washington. Six plants are named: St. Bonifacius, Minnesota; Lancaster, Ohio; Griffin, Georgia; Shawnee, Oklahoma; Tooele, Utah; and Owego, New York. Three rows and three quite different shapes, which is unusual in a family this small. This record is close to square in plan and in elevation: 26 inches long, 21 wide, 26 tall. N-62080 is the long flat one at 36 by 18 by 18 inches for 25 gallons, the same 16 lb empty as this tank in a body that is a foot longer and much lower; its store name calls it a spot sprayer tank and that name is the only thing this page will say about it. N-45193 is the larger applicator saddle at 55 gallons in a 34 by 23 by 27 inch body and 20 lb. So the choice here is not really about gallons, it is about the space the tank has to occupy and the shape of that space. If the available room is long and shallow, the 25 gallon row is the one that fits. If it is compact in plan, this one is. If there is room for both dimensions to grow slightly, the 55 gallon row nearly doubles the volume for four pounds more to carry.

A five inch threaded vented lid on a 26 inch body

• Access is a 5 inch threaded vented lid, and the lid size field agrees at 5 inches. On a body 26 inches tall that is a comfortable height to fill at, and the vent is part of the lid rather than a separate fitting.
• Keep the vent clear. On a small tank with one opening, the vent is what lets it fill and empty without the walls working, and it is the first thing a careless wash-down blocks.
• Five inches is a small opening for anything other than a hose and a light, so plan cleaning and inspection around that rather than around a hand fitting through it.
• The outlet field gives a 3/4 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting. Size the line to 3/4 inch and support the run so its weight never sits on the fitting.
• There is no inlet field on this record, so filling is through the 5 inch lid unless you specify otherwise yourself.
• Specific gravity is given as 1.5, maximum contents weight as 375 lb and the ceiling as 120 F / 48 C, under a 3 year warranty term.

The honest limitation is about what the record describes and what it does not. The name uses the word saddle and the application field says applicator, and the sheet gives dimensions, a diameter, weights, one lid, one outlet, a temperature ceiling and a warranty term. It gives no mounting detail, no bracket, no hardware and no restraint specification of any kind, so none appears here and none should be inferred from the shape of the body. Whatever holds this tank in place is designed and supplied by whoever owns the equipment it goes on. The install specific: put the 3/4 inch outlet on the side you can reach without moving anything else, and check that before the tank is fixed rather than after.
