One tanker of oxidizer under an eleven foot roof
A 5,500 gallon tank takes a full tanker with a little left over, and this one does it on a ten foot circle at eleven feet tall, the middle shape at this volume between the 142 inch low tanks and the taller ones. Openings and the vent that matters
- Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 132 inches up; a platform with a rail for anyone who opens it. Vent outside on hypochlorite and peroxide, fill through a dip tube, and size the vent for the delivery pump.
- Outlet: tell us the liquid when ordering and the bulkhead fitting is matched to it; a flanged transition, a flexible connector to hard pipe, and the valve supported off the pad in the material the chemical calls for.
- Service limit: 140 F / 60 C.
An oxidizer gives off gas as it decays, so the vent is a line to outdoors, not a screened cap, and the headspace is where the wall sees the most chemistry; inspect from the manway with a light, looking above the level line. A sender read at ground level and a low-level float for the pump come with a tank this size. Mount the pump below the outlet so it primes by gravity, keep the manway closed against vapor loss, and label one liquid per tank. Where it freezes, insulate or trace the outlet valve and the first pipe run; the body takes ice from the top down without harm.
Who specifies the 5,500 XLPE
A water or wastewater plant's hypochlorite day tank sized to one tanker, peroxide at a food or textile plant, a bleach tank at a laundry or a pulp mill, and the bulk tank behind an oxidizer feed skid where the chemical arrives warm.
