The Snyder Industries 6500 Gallon Vertical Storage Tank is a black, ASTM XLPE (crosslinked linear polyethylene) vertical storage tank built for bulk water and high-density liquid storage. It stands 153 inches tall on a 120 x 120 inch footprint, and its crosslinked resin carries a 1.5 specific gravity rating, which is what lets it hold liquids heavier than water without the wall fatigue you would see in a standard-density tank. If you are sizing a vertical tank for a fixed pad and want the durability of XLPE, this is the size class that anchors a rural fire reserve, an irrigation reservoir, or an industrial water train.

Will it fit your site?

Plan around the hard numbers up front: this tank is 153 in tall with a 120 x 120 in footprint, a full 10-foot square. Confirm your clear height and any door or gate clearance before delivery, because a vessel this size sets on a level, full-diameter concrete pad rather than a partial base. Our concrete pad sizing guide walks the ACI 360R-10 framework, and the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide help you confirm the capacity you actually need before you commit. See the technical drawing on this page for the full dimensional layout.

Load planning and duty

Filled with water, this tank carries roughly 54,210 lb; at its full 1.5 SG rating it can hold up to about 81,315 lb of contents. That is a difference of roughly 27,000 lb, so design your slab for the rated-contents case, not the water case. At 6,500 gallons, a single vessel can serve as a private fire-water reservoir or a buffer in a larger stored-water system. If you are building toward an NFPA-based rural fire reserve, our fire-water reservoir design guide covers sizing discipline and cold-climate freeze protection. For grey-water, rainwater, or HVAC condensate aggregation, the water-reuse tank topology guide shows how a black XLPE vessel like this fits a quality-banded storage train.

The mistake to avoid

Do not treat the 1.5 SG rating as an open license. It defines the maximum liquid density the wall is rated for, so confirm your fluid density falls at or under 1.5 before you fill; heavier contents can push past what XLPE is built to hold long-term. The black exterior blocks UV and light transmission, which suppresses algae growth in stored water compared with a translucent tank. This listing is the base tank; confirm your fitting and outlet configuration with your order rather than assuming a fixed schedule.

This tank ships LTL, quoted live to your ZIP, from the nearer of two Snyder plants: Lincoln, NE or Philippi, WV. Because freight is priced from whichever plant is closer to you, your region materially changes the LTL cost, so run your ZIP through our Freight Cost Estimator for rate and lead time, or call 866-418-1777 to lock in freight and lead time with a person.
