A 5,500 gallon black cone bottom tank for fertilizer, brine and other liquids up to 1.5 specific gravity
The Snyder Industries 7040000N46 is the standard wall version of Snyder's 5,500 gallon black cone bottom tank: crosslinked linear polyethylene (XLPE), 90 inches in diameter, 241 inches tall and 1,500 lb empty. It is rated for liquids up to 1.5 specific gravity, which covers water, liquid fertilizer, DEF and most brines, with a service limit of 100 F. There is an 18 inch threaded vented manway on top for filling, a float and cleaning. The cone drains the tank to a single low point, so a batch empties completely and solids that settle come out with the last of the liquid instead of building up on a flat floor. The black wall blocks light, which keeps algae down and protects contents that degrade in sunlight.

Sizing the spot before you order
Two numbers decide whether this tank works where you want it. The first is height: 241 inches of shell, plus the stand every cone bottom tank needs, plus working room over the manway. Check the door it goes in through and the roof or ceiling it stands under. The second is weight: 5,500 gallons x 8.34 lb = 45,870 lb of water, and at the full 1.5 rating 5,500 x 8.34 x 1.5 = 68,805 lb of contents. All of that comes down through the stand legs, so the pad has to be level, continuous and built for the load. What to check before you buy
- The stand. Order it with the tank. The stand compatibility matrix for Norwesco, Snyder and Enduraplas cone tanks is the starting point; we confirm the match to 7040000N46 by phone.
- The specific gravity. 1.5 is the ceiling. If your liquid is heavier, the 5,500 gallon black heavy duty tank, 7040000N48, carries up to 1.9.
- The liquid. Check it in the chemical compatibility guide. The pages for urea solution, DEF, calcium chloride and propylene glycol are the ones buyers of this tank open most.
- The outlet. No outlet size is listed. Tell us the pipe and valve you plan at the cone and we confirm the fitting with Snyder.
