At that 1.5 SG rating, this cone tank is suited to the following chemicals at the listed concentrations, paired with the noted fitting and gasket materials: Acetic Acid (60%, PP/PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets, see acetic acid), Aluminum Sulfate (50%, PVC, EPDM, see aluminum sulfate), Calcium Chloride (40%, PVC, EPDM, see calcium chloride), DEF (32.5%, 316SS fittings, EPDM, see DEF), Ferrous Sulfate (20%, PVC, EPDM, see ferrous sulfate), Magnesium Chloride (30%, PVC, EPDM, see magnesium chloride), Sodium Carbonate (30%, PVC, EPDM, see sodium carbonate), Urea Solution (50%, PP/PVC, EPDM, see urea solution), and Ozonated Water (up to 10 PPM, PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets; ozonated-water guidance is covered in our Chemical Compatibility Database linked below). One caution that trips up nitrogen-chemistry buyers: DEF and urea solution take different fitting metallurgy even though both are aqueous urea products. DEF requires 316SS fittings, while a 50% urea solution runs on PP/PVC, so do not reuse a urea-spec PP/PVC fitting on DEF service.
When you need a higher-SG tank
Several chemicals you might consider for a cone-bottom tank need a higher 1.9 SG build instead of this 1.5 SG shell. If your process uses any of these, step up to a 1.9 SG cone bottom rather than forcing this tank: Ethylene Glycol, Ferric Chloride, Ferric Sulfate, Hydrofluosilicic Acid, Polyaluminum Chloride, Potassium Carbonate, Potassium Hydroxide, Propylene Glycol, and Sodium Thiosulfate. Note one gasket exception: most of these run EPDM gaskets, but hydrofluosilicic acid requires Viton (FKM) gaskets instead.
