The Snyder Industries 6000 Gallon XLPE Heavy Duty Cone Bottom Tank is a crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) cone bottom tank built for aggressive chemical storage and full self-draining discharge. It carries a 1.9 specific gravity rating, holds 6,000 gallons, and stands 136 inches tall on a 142 by 142 inch footprint. The natural white wall lets operators read fluid level at a glance, and the cone bottom geometry empties the tank completely between batches without leaving a residual heel.

Will it work for your chemistry?

This is a crosslinked linear polyethylene (XLPE) cone tank rated to 1.9 specific gravity, which is why it handles dense, reactive chemistry that a standard 1.5 SG HDPE tank cannot. The 1.9 rating means it is engineered for liquids up to that density at full volume. With water the contents weigh 50,040 lb, and at the maximum rated 1.9 SG the contents reach 95,076 lb. That max load is 45,036 lb heavier than water, roughly 90 percent more, so a pad poured only for water weight will be grossly undersized. Size the foundation and any stand to the maximum rated weight, never the water weight. The fitting package per the technical drawing on this page includes a flange, a 12" x 13" fitting, an 18" PE threaded/vented fitting, and a manway with 15" access for inspection and cleaning. If you are weighing XLPE against standard HDPE for a specific liquid, our guide on Snyder XLPE vs HDPE: when crosslinking matters walks through where the crosslinked resin earns its place, and the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide help confirm this 6,000 gallon cone is the right volume.

Chemical compatibility

This tank is XLPE resin rated to 1.9 specific gravity. Match fittings and gaskets to your chemical, not to the tank, and always confirm against the OEM chemical-resistance chart, which is concentration- and temperature-specific. The chemicals below are compatible with this resin and SG rating at the noted concentrations:

  • Acetic Acid (60%) - PP/PVC fittings, EPDM gasket - details
  • Aluminum Sulfate (50%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gasket - details
  • Calcium Chloride (40%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gasket - details
  • DEF (32.5%) - 316SS fittings, EPDM gasket - details
  • Ethylene Glycol (100%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gasket - details
  • Ferric Chloride (50%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gasket - details
  • Ferric Sulfate (60%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gasket - details
  • Ferrous Sulfate (20%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gasket - details
  • Hydrofluosilicic Acid (26%) - PP/PVC fittings, Viton gasket - details
  • Magnesium Chloride (30%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gasket - details
  • Polyaluminum Chloride - PVC fittings, EPDM gasket - details
  • Potassium Carbonate (50%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gasket - details
  • Potassium Hydroxide (saturated) - PVC fittings, EPDM gasket - details
  • Propylene Glycol - PP/316SS fittings, EPDM gasket - details
  • Sodium Carbonate (30%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gasket - details
  • Sodium Thiosulfate (40%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gasket - details
  • Urea Solution (50%) - PP/PVC fittings, EPDM gasket - details
  • Ozonated Water (up to 10 PPM) - PVC fittings, EPDM gasket

Two entries break from the default PVC-and-EPDM pattern and prove why you spec to the liquid. Hydrofluosilicic acid calls for Viton gaskets rather than EPDM, and DEF (32.5%) calls for 316 stainless steel wetted fittings rather than PVC, so do not carry one fitting or gasket spec across every service. For the full picture by concentration and temperature, see our Chemical Compatibility Database and the OEM chemical-resistance chart.

The mistake to avoid

The most common error on a tank this size is specifying fittings and gaskets to the tank instead of to the liquid. The XLPE wall is rated to 1.9 SG, but a PVC fitting or an EPDM gasket is not automatically correct for your chemical, as the Viton requirement on hydrofluosilicic acid and the 316SS requirement on DEF both show. Confirm the wetted fitting and gasket materials against the OEM chart for your exact concentration and temperature before ordering. Because this is a 6,000 gallon cone bottom tank, also plan the stand and pad correctly, and note that the 142-inch (11.8 ft) width is over-dimensional for standard transport, so confirm any permit or escort needs in your freight quote. Our cone bottom tank stand compatibility matrix and the 6000 gallon cone bottom tank buyer's guide cover stand sizing and foundation prep for this class of tank.
