1,400 Gallon Tanks

1,400 Gallon Tanks

Fourteen hundred gallons is a hauling and mixing size. Thirteen horizontal leg tanks from Enduraplas for trailers and skids, four cone bottoms that drain to the last gallon, and six verticals, every one rated 1.9 specific gravity. Spin the Snyder cone bottom below, then pick by what the tank has to do.

1400 Gallon 30 Degree Plastic Cone Bottom Tank

80inches tall. Wider than it is tall.

The Snyder cone bottom is 86 inches across and 80 inches tall on its stand, a low, wide shape that keeps the outlet within reach and the center of gravity low. The leg tanks on this page are lower still; they are built to ride.

11,676pounds of water when full. Water alone weighs 11,676 pounds.

Multiply 1,400 gallons by 8.34 pounds per gallon. Every tank on this page carries a 1.9 specific gravity wall, good for contents up to 22,184 pounds. On a trailer that is a tandem-axle load before the trailer itself.

Start with the wall. Resin sets what the tank can hold and how hot; the specific gravity rating sets how heavy a liquid the wall is built for. Pick a cell to narrow the list.

The shapes, and when each one is right

Horizontal leg tanks are the majority here, thirteen Enduraplas molds on saddle legs for nurse trailers, sprayer skids and water hauling, with the fill on top and a drain at one end. They are the shape when the tank moves.

The four cone bottoms, Snyder's 30 degree mold among them, drain completely through the bottom outlet on a stand. They are the shape for mixing, batching and any liquid you cannot leave sitting in a flat-bottom tank. The six verticals are the stationary storage shape, 1.9 walls for fertilizer and chemical service.

Listed prices run 1,859 to 6,099 dollars before freight across the 23. The maximum temperature on these records is 100 degrees F, which rules out hot process liquids; two of the 23 list NSF/ANSI 61, so this is a fertilizer and chemical page more than a water page.

What 1,400 gallons is on the ground

Wider than it is tall. The Snyder cone bottom is 86 inches across and 80 inches tall on its stand, a low, wide shape that keeps the outlet within reach and the center of gravity low. The leg tanks on this page are lower still; they are built to ride.

A 7 foot circle, or a trailer deck. The cone's stand needs a level pad about 86 inches across, bolted down; a leg tank needs a deck or skid that carries the full load across all its saddles, not just the ends.

Choosing by what you will store

Liquid fertilizer and nurse service

UAN and liquid NPK run well above the density of water, which is why every wall here is rated 1.9. A leg tank on a nurse trailer is the field shape; check the product against the chemical tank recommender for resin compatibility.

Mixing and batching

A cone bottom on its stand drains to the last gallon through the bottom outlet, so a batch never sits in a corner. Pair it with a bulkhead sized to your pump and a flexible connection.

Water hauling

A leg tank carries 1,400 gallons low on a tandem trailer, strapped at the molded points. Only two tanks here list NSF/ANSI 61; for drinking water, pick one of those or a different size.

Stationary chemical storage

The six verticals are 1.9 walls for a fixed pad. Mind the 100 degree F ceiling on these records; anything hotter needs a crosslinked tank from another size.

Getting it to your site, honestly

Leg tanks and cone bottoms are long or wide on the trailer, so the freight class on this page runs 250 to 400 and the wide cones can read oversize. Everything ships LTL on a flatbed; the driver does not unload it. Listed prices are before freight.

Enduraplas and Snyder plants are listed on each product page. The freight cost estimator picks the right origin and quotes your ZIP with a real LTL number.

The honest limitation: a leg tank is an awkward lift. Have a forklift with long forks or a loader with straps, and a trailer deck ready; a 1,400 gallon leg tank is not a two-person job even empty.

Standards the manufacturers list

ASTM D1998, Standard Specification for Polyethylene Upright Storage Tanks, is the construction standard for the verticals and the basis for the 1.9 specific gravity rating the makers state on every tank here.

NSF/ANSI 61 is listed by the makers on two of the 23. We print what each maker lists for each tank and nothing stronger.

Bolt a cone bottom's stand to a level pad and support the pipe independently of the outlet. Set a vertical on a base that supports the whole bottom. Mount a leg tank with every saddle bearing on the deck and straps at the molded points.

Pipe every fitting with a flexible connection. Keep the drawing on the job; the 3D model on this page is traced from the hero tank's own drawing.

Questions we get about 1,400 gallon tanks

How much does a 1,400 gallon plastic tank cost?

Listed at 1,859 to 6,099 dollars before freight on this page. Leg tanks sit at the bottom of the range; cone bottoms with stands at the top.

Can a 1,400 gallon leg tank go on a pickup?

No. Full, it is more than 11,600 pounds of water. It is a tandem-axle trailer or a truck-mounted skid.

Why are they all rated 1.9?

Because this size sells for fertilizer and chemical service, where the liquid is heavier than water. The 1.9 wall is the makers' standard here.

Which ones are rated for drinking water?

Two of the 23 list NSF/ANSI 61; the comparison table and each card show which.
