Why buy the tank and stand as one
A cone bottom tank has no flat base, so it always needs a stand. The poly stand version removes the matching problem: the cone angle, the cradle and the outlet height are already paired by Norwesco, and the stand is the same polyethylene as the tank, so there is no steel to rust in a wet chemical room. The 30 degree cone is the middle of the range, moving settled solids toward the outlet better than a 15 degree cone while adding less height than a 45. What goes in it
Polyethylene handles water, most fertilizers and many common chemicals, and the 1.9 rating admits the dense ones. Check the liquid in our chemical compatibility guide before the first fill; the entries cone bottom buyers ask about most are sulfuric acid, sodium hypochlorite, ferric chloride, hydrochloric acid and phosphoric acid. Openings, fittings and the floor
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting at the bottom of the cone. Your valve threads straight into it; fit it before the first fill and support the pipe run on its own.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top for filling, a mixer mount or a float, and cleaning access.
- The floor. The stand needs a flat, level, continuous area 99 inches across with no drain, joint or slope under it. Full, the contents alone can put 39615 lb on that spot with a 1.9 liquid, plus the 949 lb of tank and stand; the floor design is yours and your engineer's, and Norwesco's documentation is the source for the bearing figures.
