The Norwesco 1020 Gallon 15 Degree Cone Bottom Tank (N-44341) is a White polyethylene cone bottom tank built for full-drain chemical service. With a 1020 gallon rated capacity, an SG 1.5 specific-gravity rating, and the 15-degree cone floor draining to a single bottom outlet, it empties batch volumes completely without manual flushing or a leftover heel. This is the cone bottom tank processors reach for when a flat-bottom vertical leaves product stranded.

Will it work for your application?

The tank measures 91 inches wide across a 91.0 x 91.0 inch footprint and stands 53 inches tall, so a matching poly or steel cone stand is required to hold the cone off the ground. Filled with water it carries roughly 8,507 lb; at its full 1.5 SG rating it is engineered to hold up to 12,760 lb of contents, so confirm your stand, slab, and any anchoring are rated for that loaded weight before you set it. Capacities and dimensions on this page come from the manufacturer data, so review the cone geometry and outlet placement on the technical drawing on this page before plumbing. If you are still narrowing volume and cone angle, the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide walk through the math, and our Norwesco cone bottom tank buyer's guide compares the 15, 30, and 45 degree options side by side.

Chemical compatibility

Two separate specs decide whether this tank fits your fluid. The 1.5 specific-gravity rating is structural: it sets how heavy a liquid the tank wall can physically carry, up to that 12,760 lb contents weight. Resin type governs chemical resistance, and that is the open question here - the resin is recorded as HDLPE in our data but is not yet confirmed, so verify whether your tank is high-density linear (HDLPE) or cross-linked (XLPE) polyethylene before any chemical service, since the two resist chemicals differently. At the 1.5 SG rating, this tank suits the following fluids when fitted with the matching hardware (always confirm against the OEM chemical-resistance chart for your exact concentration and operating temperature):

Every chemical this 1.5 SG tank handles seals with EPDM gaskets, so the gasket choice is consistent across the list above. A separate group of fluids is too heavy for a 1.5 SG wall and requires a 1.9 specific-gravity tank instead - among them ethylene glycol, ferric chloride, ferric sulfate, hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, hydrofluosilicic acid, hydrogen peroxide, peracetic acid, phosphoric acid, polyaluminum chloride, potassium carbonate, potassium hydroxide, propylene glycol, sodium bisulfate, sodium bisulfite, sodium hypochlorite, sodium thiosulfate, sulfuric acid, and zinc orthophosphate. Those carry a different build, not just a heavier wall: sulfuric acid calls for CPVC fittings with Viton seals and peracetic acid needs 316 stainless fittings with Aflas seals. If you plan to store any of those, ask us about a higher-SG tank before ordering, and look up your exact fluid in the Chemical Compatibility Database.
