The Norwesco 2500 Gallon 30 Degree Cone Bottom Tank with Poly Stand (SKU N-42025) is a closed-top, black polyethylene tank built for full-drain chemical batching and dosing where the vessel has to empty completely through the cone. It stands 116" tall on a 99"-diameter poly stand footprint, carries a 2" outlet at the base of the 30-degree cone and a 16" lid up top, and drains from full to zero with no manual scraping. Empty tank weight is 889 lb. The tank is rated to 1.5 specific gravity and a maximum contents temperature of 120 F / 48 C, in FDA-approved resin.

Will it hold your batch?

Size to the weight, not the gallons. At 2500 gallons of water this cone bottom carries 20,850 lb full; at its 1.5 SG rating the maximum rated contents weight is 31,275 lb. Confirm your stand pad and floor can carry that load before you fill. Use the Tank Sizing Calculator to convert your chemical's specific gravity into an actual filled weight, and the Tank Sizing Guide if you are choosing between cone-bottom capacities. The elevated poly stand gives you gravity draw and room for a valve and pump under the 2" outlet. For a full walkthrough of this exact tank, see the 2500 Gallon 30 Degree Cone Bottom buyer's guide.

Chemical compatibility

This is a polyethylene tank rated to 1.5 specific gravity. The resin is listed as HDLPE but flagged for confirmation, so confirm HDLPE versus XLPE for your exact chemical service before ordering any tank for chemical duty; call 866-418-1777 and we will verify the resin against your application. The tank ships with a 2" outlet and 16" lid, but you select fittings and gaskets to match your chemical, and the material matters as much as the tank. Against the Snyder Industries OEM chemical-resistance chart, this 1.5 SG tank suits the following at the concentrations shown:

ChemicalMax conc.FittingGasket
Acetic acid60%PP/PVCEPDM
Aluminum sulfate50%PVCEPDM
Calcium chloride40%PVCEPDM
DEF32.5%316SSEPDM
Ferrous sulfate20%PVCEPDM
Magnesium chloride30%PVCEPDM
Sodium carbonate30%PVCEPDM
Urea solution50%PP/PVCEPDM
Ozonated waterup to 10 PPMPVCEPDM

Note that DEF and urea solution both rate at 1.35 SG, so they sit well inside this tank's 1.5 rating with margin, but DEF specifically wants 316SS fittings, not the PVC most of the others use. Chart ratings are concentration- and temperature-specific, so verify your exact chemical, concentration, temperature, and fitting-plus-gasket combination before service.

The mistake to avoid

Do not put a heavy acid or oxidizer in this tank because the cone shape fits your bay. A 1.5 SG tank is not rated for the dense acids many cone-bottom buyers assume. Sulfuric acid (98%, CPVC + Viton), hydrochloric acid (37%, Viton), phosphoric acid (85%, Viton), hydrogen peroxide (50%, Viton), sodium hypochlorite (under 16.5%, Viton), ferric chloride (50%), and ethylene glycol (100%) all require a higher 1.9 SG tank, not this one, and most demand Viton gaskets rather than EPDM. If your batch is on that list, call 866-418-1777 and ask about a 1.9 SG cone bottom instead of forcing this one. Full ratings live in our Chemical Compatibility Database. Confirm the dimensions against the technical drawing on this page before you pour a pad.
