Where a 3000 gallon tank goes
Three thousand gallons is the point where a tank stops being a buffer and becomes the supply: a household on a well that recovers slowly, a rainwater system meant to carry a dry season, a small livestock operation, or a fire reserve on a lot the hydrant does not reach. Full, the tank stands 25,020 lb of water on a 98 inch circle. The base has to be flat, level and continuous under the entire floor, built past the rim rather than to it, and drained so overflow runs away. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the wall. Thread your valve into it and support the valve and the first length of pipe separately.
- Inlet. A 1-1/2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting for the fill line from the pump, well or downspout filter.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top for filling, a float, inspection and cleaning. The vent lets the tank breathe as the level moves; never plug it.
