3500 gallons on the same 96 inch base, 125 inches tall

The Snyder SII-32288 adds volume by going up rather than out: 3500 gallons in a white high density linear polyethylene shell 96 inches across and 125 inches tall, 550 pounds empty, molded at Merced, California and Albertville, Alabama. The sheet rates the wall at a specific gravity of 1.5. Against that, 3500 gallons of water is 29,190 pounds at 8.34 pounds per gallon and the contents figure the sheet publishes is 43,785 pounds. It is fitted with a 20 inch threaded vented manway, a lid size also given as 20 inches, and a 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead outlet with a siphon tube. Freight is class 500 and it moves as an oversize load. The sheet publishes no temperature limit and no warranty term, so this page asserts neither; ask us and we will get Snyder's current terms in writing.

The duty is volume the yard cannot widen for

This tank is bought by the site that has run out of floor. The duty belongs to a plant or a farm that already knows how much liquid it wants to hold and cannot spend another foot of concrete to hold it: a water or wastewater works adding capacity inside an existing chemical building, a food, beverage or dairy plant fitting bulk storage into a service yard between existing equipment, a grower consolidating several smaller tanks onto one pad and one pump, a fertilizer or ag retail yard taking larger delivery drops to cut the number of trucks, a municipal or district yard holding flushing and testing water, an industrial site buffering a slow supply against a fast demand. All of them are looking at the same trade, and 125 inches against 96 inches of base is the answer to it: ten feet five inches of height on an eight foot circle buys 3500 gallons where the wider, lower shells want ten inches more diameter for less volume. The delivery is a tanker or a nurse truck into the top, on a schedule, with somebody at the tank. What the height asks for in return is discipline before the first fill. Ten feet of empty tank at 550 pounds is a sail from the day it lands until the day it is full, so banding or cabling to structure or to anchors set with the pad goes on before the first gallon, tight, and gets checked after the first windy week and again after the first full summer. The manway at 125 inches is above the reach of anyone on the ground, so fixed access with a rail, or a fill line brought down to a coupling at working level, is part of the job. The sheet gives two 3500 gallon tanks on the same 96 inch base at the same 550 pounds, this one at 125 inches and the SII-32292 at 124 inches, and it explains nothing about the inch between them; both figures are the sheet's own and we print them rather than interpret them. If that inch is load-bearing on your site, measure the purlin and tell us, and we will confirm the current molding dimension with Snyder before the order goes in. The real decisions on this sheet are the neighbours. The black 5130000C34 holds 3000 gallons on a 90 inch base and still stands 127 inches, so it is taller than this tank for 500 gallons less: that is the buy when the floor is narrower than eight feet or when the liquid needs a wall daylight cannot reach. Going the other way, the 8190000C26 puts 3650 gallons on a 102 inch base at 126 inches and 790 pounds, which buys its extra gallons with half a foot more diameter and a heavier lift. Between them this tank is the one that fits the most volume onto the base an eight foot pad already has, and each of those neighbours carries the rating and fittings its own sheet publishes.

The pump, the siphon tube and ten feet of head

  • The pump: 125 inches of shell stands ten feet five inches of liquid over the base fitting, which is the most head of any shell on this sheet and the strongest argument for the tall silhouette. A pump mounted below the outlet on its own base runs flooded for nearly the whole draw and holds prime between calls without a foot valve fighting for it. Keep the suction run short and falling toward the pump, and do not lift the pump onto a plinth beside the tank to keep it out of the wet; that is how the head gets thrown away.
  • Prime and protection: a cleanable strainer at the pump, a check where the discharge lifts, and a low level float or run-dry cut-out that stops the pump with liquid still over the fitting. On a tall shell the level falls fastest at the bottom of the tank, so the last inches arrive sooner than an operator expects and a dry run arrives with them.
  • Outlet: a 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting with a siphon tube, as the sheet lists it. Under ten feet of standing liquid a threaded fitting wants making up once, correctly, and then leaving alone; give it a union or a flange a short way downstream so a valve change never means working on the tank fitting.
  • Access: a 20 inch threaded vented manway, lid size given as 20 inches as well, 125 inches up. Fixed access with a rail, a dip tube for the fill instead of a free fall onto the surface, and a vent kept clear and sized to the delivery pump. A blocked vent and a running pump will pull a polyethylene wall inward, and it does it quietly.

The head that makes this tank useful also bears on the fitting, the first joint and the first valve every hour of every day, so the connector off the bulkhead is flexible, the valve rides on its own support off the pad, and nothing rigid is bolted between the wall and a building. Freeze protection goes on the valve and the exposed pipe, never on the body, which takes ice from the top down. Fit a level reading where the operator stands rather than at the lid, because on a tank ten feet tall nobody should be climbing to answer a question a gauge answers, and on an eight foot circle the surface moves very little per hundred gallons drawn.

Bulk liquid, water reserve and the guides that size them

The duties are the bulk ones: process and wash water at a plant, chemical and treatment liquid held between tanker deliveries, irrigation and spray-fill supply on a farm, hydrant flushing and main testing water at a district yard, construction water for dust control and compaction, and the consolidation job where one tall tank replaces a row of smaller ones. Class 500 out of Merced or Albertville

The SII-32288 is molded at Merced, California and Albertville, Alabama and ships from the plant that serves your lane at class 500 as the sheet lists it, as an oversize load. That class is the one number on this sheet worth noticing beside the dimensions: it is a step above the class on the smaller and the larger tanks around it, so on a long lane the freight difference between shells can be larger than the difference in list price, and the freight cost estimator is the only honest way to find out for your ZIP. The listed price is before freight. Unload with a forklift or telehandler and slings under the body, never a hook through the manway, stand it on the finished pad, and get the bands or cables on before the machine leaves the site. Fill it with clean water once, hold it, and read the base, the pad edge and the outlet thread through the hold before the working liquid arrives. Book the crane or telehandler for the same hour as the truck; a tall tank lying on its side in a yard is the start of most delivery damage claims. Write the outlet fitting size and material on the site plan; the replacement is ordered by those two words.
