The Norwesco 550 gallon 20 degree cone bottom tank, part number 44647, is a natural white polyethylene tank 72 inches in diameter and 47 inches tall, weighing 129 lb empty. The shallow 20 degree cone is the reason to choose it: you get a draining bottom in a tank that is wider than it is tall, so it goes under a low ceiling or a mezzanine where a steep cone will not. Where a 20 degree cone belongs
A shallow cone drains a clean liquid completely but moves slowly on anything thick or heavy with solids, which is the trade for its low profile. It suits fertilizer storage, brine and treatment chemical make-up where the tank is emptied by a pump or gravity feed and the contents flow freely. What goes in it
Water, liquid fertilizer and the common chemicals polyethylene handles, up to 1.5 times the weight of water and under 120 F. Check your liquid in the chemical compatibility guide before the first fill; urea solution, calcium chloride, magnesium chloride, sodium hypochlorite and aluminum sulfate are the entries this size is usually bought for. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting at the bottom of the cone. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight in. Fit the valve before the tank is set in its stand.
- Manway. A 16 inch vented manway on top, wide enough to fill, to fit a float or a mixer bracket, and to get a hand and a brush inside.
- Stand. A 20 degree cone needs a 20 degree stand. The stand height decides what fits under the outlet, so measure the valve, pump or drum first and tell us; we confirm the pairing before the order ships.
