Will this cone-bottom tank work for your application?

The cone geometry exists to drain completely, which is the whole point for slurries, settling solids, and batch processes where heel left in a flat-bottom tank becomes waste or a contamination risk. Because this is a true cone bottom, it needs a support stand or structural cradle; do not set a cone tank directly on grade. Plan the foundation for the full 92,574 lb loaded weight at 1.5 SG across the 142.0 in diameter footprint, not the 61,716 lb water weight. Chemical compatibility

This Snyder cone tank is polyethylene rated to 1.5 specific gravity. The resin grade reads as HDLPE but is not yet confirmed, so verify HDLPE versus XLPE with us before committing the tank to chemical service, since crosslinked and linear polyethylene behave differently against aggressive oxidizers. Per the manufacturer's chemical-resistance chart, which is always concentration- and temperature-specific, the following are compatible with a 1.5 SG polyethylene tank: Acetic Acid at 60% with PP/PVC fittings and EPDM gaskets; Aluminum Sulfate at 50% with PVC fittings and EPDM gaskets; Calcium Chloride at 40% with PVC fittings and EPDM gaskets; DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) at 32.5% with 316SS fittings and EPDM gaskets; Ferrous Sulfate at 20% with PVC fittings and EPDM gaskets; Magnesium Chloride at 30% with PVC fittings and EPDM gaskets; Sodium Carbonate at 30% with PVC fittings and EPDM gaskets; Urea Solution at 50% with PP/PVC fittings and EPDM gaskets; and Ozonated Water up to 10 PPM with PVC fittings and EPDM gaskets. The DEF rating makes this a candidate for diesel-exhaust-fluid bulk storage, where the specified 316SS wetted fittings matter because DEF corrodes ordinary steel and is purity-sensitive under ISO 22241 — dedicate the tank and fittings to DEF only to avoid cross-contamination. Note also that compatibility assumes the wetted fitting and gasket materials listed for each chemical; the bare tank shell being compatible does not make a mismatched fitting or gasket compatible, so confirm both with us before ordering.

What to confirm before you order

The mistake that costs money on a cone tank this size is matching the wrong SG. This is a 1.5 SG tank. Several common water-treatment and glycol chemicals require a heavier-wall 1.9 SG tank and should not go in this one. If you are storing Sodium Hypochlorite (the common bleach feed; Viton gaskets), Sulfuric Acid (CPVC fittings, Viton gaskets), Ferric Chloride, Hydrogen Peroxide (Viton gaskets), or Hydrochloric Acid (Viton gaskets) — the most common water-treatment chemicals — this 1.5 SG tank is not rated and we will quote the 1.9 SG version. The full 1.9 SG list also includes Ethylene Glycol, Ferric Sulfate, Hydrofluoric Acid (Viton gaskets), Hydrofluosilicic Acid (Viton gaskets), Peracetic Acid (316SS fittings, Aflas gaskets), Phosphoric Acid (Viton gaskets), Polyaluminum Chloride, Potassium Carbonate, Potassium Hydroxide, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Bisulfate, Sodium Bisulfite, Sodium Thiosulfate, and Zinc Orthophosphate. Note that several of these require Viton (not EPDM) gaskets.
