Where a 150 gallon vertical tank goes

At 30 inches across and 56 inches tall this tank stands under a normal ceiling, goes through most doors on its side, and leaves room to work around it in a well house or a utility room. It is a common choice as a holding tank between a low yield well and a booster pump, as a day tank for a water treatment system, as spray mix storage in a greenhouse, and as backup water for a house, a cabin or a shop. Full of water it weighs 1251 lb, so it needs a flat, continuous, level floor under the whole base; a sound slab or a solid floor carries it without an engineered pad. Outdoors, set it on a paving slab or compacted sand so the base is supported edge to edge, and strap it where wind or animals can reach it. What goes in it

Water, liquid fertilizer and the common treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads. Check anything else in our chemical compatibility guide before it goes in, and ask us about anything that is not listed. Liquids heavier than 1.5 times water need a heavy duty tank, and nothing hotter than 120 F should be stored in it. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 1-1/4 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. A valve, a hose adapter or a pump suction line threads straight into it. Support the valve and the first length of pipe so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
2. Lid. An 8 inch threaded vented lid on top: room for a fill hose and a float switch, with a vent so the tank breathes as a pump draws it down. It is not an arm-sized opening; clean the tank by flushing.
3. Extra fittings. A second outlet, an overflow or a return line is a bulkhead fitting added through the wall. Tell us before the order and we quote it with the tank. Dry-fit before tightening; hand tight plus a quarter turn is enough.
