Where a tall 250 gallon tank goes

This is the slimmest way to keep 250 gallons: 30 inches across and 89 inches tall, which is almost seven and a half feet, so measure the ceiling and the door before you order. It is the tank for a tight pump room, the back wall of a shop, a container based treatment skid or a spot beside a sprayer fill stand. The jobs are rainwater from a roof, spray mix and liquid fertilizer, stock water, and feed water or brine for a treatment system. Full of water it weighs 2085 lb on a 30 inch circle, so it needs a flat, level, continuous base such as a slab or a paving base, never soil. A tank this tall and this narrow should be strapped or braced to a wall or post, because an empty one is easy to push over and a full one will not stop once it starts. What goes in it

Water, liquid fertilizer and the treatment and cleaning chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads. Liquids heavier than 1.5 times water need a heavy duty tank, and nothing hotter than 120 F belongs in it. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. A 2 inch valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight into it. Support the valve and the first length of pipe on their own so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
2. Lid. An 8 inch threaded vented lid on top, 89 inches up, so plan a step or a platform to fill through it and to drop a float in. The vent lets the tank breathe as the level changes. It is not an arm-sized opening; clean by flushing.
3. Extra fittings. An overflow near the top or a second draw-off is a bulkhead fitting through the wall. Tell us before the order and we quote it with the tank. Dry-fit, then hand tight plus a quarter turn.
