A 225 gallon white vertical tank on a 31 inch footprint
The Norwesco 225 gallon vertical liquid storage tank, part number 44538, is a polyethylene tank 31 inches in diameter and 77 inches tall, weighing 59 lb empty. It is a column: more liquid on a 31 inch circle than any of the smaller tanks in this family, and it buys that capacity with height, so the lid sits well above head level. Where a 77 inch column belongs
Buy this tank when you have run out of floor and not out of height: a chemical feed tank in a treatment building, a make-up tank against a stairwell wall, a storage column at the end of a greenhouse range, a buffer tank on a mezzanine with open headroom. Two things follow from the height. The fill is a line and a coupling brought down to working height, not a bucket over the lid, and the level is read through the wall. And a tank 77 inches tall on a 31 inch base must be strapped to a wall, a rack or a frame before the first fill; never let a rigid pipe be what holds it upright. What goes in it
Water, liquid fertilizer and the common farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads, kept under 120 F. Liquids heavier than 1.5 times water need a heavy duty tank rather than this one. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight into it. Support the valve and the first length of pipe so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Lid. An 8 inch threaded vented lid on top: a fill hose, a float switch and a hand with a brush go through it. The vent lets air in as the tank drains; never plug it.
