The Norwesco 35 Gallon Horizontal Leg Tank in White is a compact polyethylene horizontal leg tank built for mobile fertilizer, applicator, and nurse-rig work where the tank rides on a frame or trailer and the molded legs let it sit flat and drain. Rated to a 1.5 specific gravity, it carries heavier-than-water agricultural liquids without the wall flex you would see in a 1.0-rated water tank. If you are sizing a horizontal leg tank for a sprayer skid or utility bed, this 35 gallon Norwesco sits at the small end of the line and mounts easily.

Will it work for your job?

Capacity is 35 gallons in white polyethylene. The load swing matters more than the dry weight here: filled with plain water the contents run roughly 292 pounds, and at the tank's full 1.5 specific gravity rating they can reach about 438 pounds. Build your frame, straps, and rig to the 438-pound number, not the water figure. The shell at 1.5 SG is only half the spec - match the fill cap, bulkhead, and any plumbed fittings to the listed fitting material for your chemical, and verify the lid thread against the "LID THREAD REVISED" callout on the technical drawing on this page before you buy adapters. To match the tank to your pump rate and route, run the numbers through our Tank Sizing Calculator and review the Tank Sizing Guide.

Chemical compatibility

This tank is rated to 1.5 specific gravity. The resin grade is not confirmed in our data, so confirm whether the construction is HDLPE before putting any chemical into service. At its 1.5 rating it suits these liquids when fitted with the listed fitting and gasket materials: Acetic Acid at 60% (PP/PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets, chart), Aluminum Sulfate at 50% (PVC, EPDM, chart), Calcium Chloride at 40% (PVC, EPDM, chart), Ferrous Sulfate at 20% (PVC, EPDM, chart), Magnesium Chloride at 30% (PVC, EPDM, chart), Sodium Carbonate at 30% (PVC, EPDM, chart), Urea Solution at 50% (PP/PVC, EPDM, chart), and Ozonated Water up to 10 PPM (PVC, EPDM). Hauling DEF? At 32.5% it is compatible at this 1.5 rating, but it requires 316 stainless fittings - not PVC - with EPDM gaskets; see the DEF compatibility chart. Always confirm against the OEM chemical-resistance chart for your exact concentration and temperature, and start at our chemical compatibility hub.

When the chemical needs a heavier tank

Several common applicator and treatment chemicals exceed what a 1.5-rated tank should hold and call for the 1.9 specific gravity equivalent instead: Ethylene Glycol, Ferric Chloride, Ferric Sulfate, Hydrochloric Acid, Hydrofluoric Acid, Hydrofluosilicic Acid, Hydrogen Peroxide, Peracetic Acid, Phosphoric Acid, Polyaluminum Chloride, Potassium Carbonate, Potassium Hydroxide, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Bisulfate, Sodium Bisulfite, Sodium Hypochlorite, Sodium Thiosulfate, Sulfuric Acid, and Zinc Orthophosphate. The aggressive oxidizers and acids in this group - sulfuric, hydrochloric, hydrofluoric, hydrofluosilicic, phosphoric, hydrogen peroxide, and sodium hypochlorite - also need Viton gaskets rather than EPDM, and peracetic acid needs Aflas. If your duty is one of these, do not spec this tank: step up to the 1.9-rated equivalent and confirm the fitting and gasket material on the matching compatibility page first. The single biggest mistake on a leg tank like this is matching the chemical to the wrong specific gravity rating - the resin construction and the SG rating decide whether the tank survives the service.
