Where a 55 gallon leg tank goes

This is the tank for a spot sprayer on a UTV or a compact tractor, a water supply on a service truck, a small nurse tank beside a greenhouse, or a mixing tank for a hand line. At 34 by 23 inches it sits across a UTV bed or in the corner of a pickup bed with room left over, and at 26 inches tall it rides below most bed rails. Full of water it carries about 460 lb of liquid on top of the 23 lb tank, which is within the payload of most UTVs but not all of them, so check the rating before the first fill. Two bands are optional for this tank, band part N-61745; where the tank rides on a vehicle, band it and strap through the leg recesses, never over the lid. On the ground it needs a flat, continuous surface under every leg. What goes in it

Water, liquid fertilizer, herbicide mixes and the common treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles. Check the liquid in our chemical compatibility guide before the first fill; the entries for urea solution, DEF, calcium chloride and sodium hypochlorite are the ones buyers of a small leg tank ask about most. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 3/4 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed. A 3/4 inch ball valve or a garden hose adapter threads straight in; most small sprayer pumps draw through this size without an adapter. A 3/4 inch outlet drains slowly by gravity, so plan on a pump if you need the tank empty in a hurry.
2. Lid. A 5 inch threaded vented lid on top, sized for a hose nozzle and a chemical jug, not for a hand. The vent lets air in as the pump draws down.
