The wide, shorter way to hold 6500 gallons of a dense liquid
Norwesco makes 6500 gallons two ways. This tank is the wide one: just under ten feet across and twelve and a half feet tall, where the 6502 gallon tank is narrower and taller. Pick this shell when the building or the roofline caps the height and you have the floor, and the manway is a shorter climb. It is a dealer and farm size for UAN or other liquid fertilizer taken by the transport load, a treatment plant's chemical bulk tank, or a food plant's brine. For plain water, the standard duty 6500 does the same job with a thinner wall and a 3 year warranty. Full of water it puts about 27 tons on the pad, and nearly twice that with a liquid at 1.9. What goes in it
Liquid fertilizers, brines, many acids and bases, and water. The 1.9 rating is about weight, not chemistry: check the liquid in our chemical compatibility guide before it goes in, and keep the contents under 120 F; polyethylene softens as it warms and the rating assumes that ceiling. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting with a 2 inch reducer, factory installed low in the wall. Run 3 inch for fast loading into a nurse tank or a sprayer, or leave the reducer in and plumb 2 inch. Put a flexible connector between the tank and rigid pipe and support the valve on its own; a full tank settles slightly and a rigid line levers on the fitting.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top. The vent lets air move as the level changes; a pump pulling against a plugged vent can collapse a wall.
- Inlet. No separate inlet is installed. Tell us before the order ships if you want a fill fitting at a set height.
