6500 Gallon Vertical Liquid Storage Tank

Where it goes

A 6500 gallon tank is the size where a farm water reserve, an irrigation buffer or a fertilizer supply stops being a chore to refill. On a ten foot circle it fits beside a well house or along a fence line, and at 150 inches tall it needs open sky or a tall shed, not a standard barn bay. The pad has to carry the full floor: 54210 lb of water plus the tank, spread across the whole base, on a level surface that does not stop short of the edge. Full, the tank is heavy enough that a slab or a compacted, contained gravel bed is the right base, never bare ground. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall, with a 2 inch reducer in it. Connect 2 inch as supplied, or take the reducer out for the full 3 inch port and a faster drain. Match the valve to that decision. Support the valve and the first length of pipe so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
2. Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top: fill point, vent and inspection opening. At 150 inches up it is a ladder job, so site the tank where a ladder can stand safely.

4. Liquid. Water and most liquid fertilizers sit inside the 1.5 specific gravity rating. Heavier liquids go in the 1.9 rated versions of this shell listed below; tell us what is going in and we will confirm the fit.

It travels on an open trailer, so plan on a forklift, a loader with forks or a crew with straps, and a clear route from the truck to the pad.
