The Snyder Industries 12500 Gallon ASTM XLPE Black Heavy Duty Vertical Storage Tank is a crosslinked polyethylene bulk tank built for the largest above-ground water and high-density storage jobs. It stands 198 inches tall on a 142 x 142 inch footprint, molded in black crosslinked linear polyethylene (XLPE) to ASTM standards, and carries a 1.9 specific gravity rating - meaning the wall is engineered to hold contents up to 1.9 times the density of water at full volume. It shows up in searches as a vertical storage tank, XLPE storage tank, or black Snyder vertical tank, and it sits at the top of that class.
Will it work for your site?
At 12,500 gallons, plan your slab before the tank arrives. Filled with water this tank weighs about 104,250 lb, and at its 1.9 SG rating it can carry up to roughly 198,075 lb of contents - so the pad has to be sized and reinforced for that fully loaded case, not just the empty shell. The 142 x 142 inch footprint and 198 inch height also set your clearance and fill-access envelope. If you are still confirming volume for a fire-water reservoir or process buffer, our Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide walk through usable volume and freeboard. For pad design, see our guide on concrete pad sizing for above-ground polyethylene tanks.
Fittings and access
The technical drawing on this page shows the molded fitting package: an 18-inch PE threaded/vented fitting, a flange and flat-fitting outlet, a 12-inch x 30-inch fitting, a bulkhead connection, and a manway with 15-inch access for interior inspection and cleaning. That 15-inch access clearance is what you will work through for entry and tooling, so confirm it fits your inspection and cleaning plan. The flange and flat-fitting outlet are not usable on their own - each opening needs a correctly sized, gasketed bulkhead fitting, so verify gasket material and fitting size per opening against the drawing before you order plumbing. The vented fitting and manway placement drive your fill and access layout.
Why XLPE here
This is a crosslinked (XLPE) vertical storage tank rather than standard HDPE. Crosslinking raises the wall's resistance to stress and higher-density contents, which is why it carries the 1.9 SG rating. If you are weighing whether that matters for your duty, our write-up on Snyder XLPE vs HDPE covers when crosslinking earns its place. The most common mistake on a tank this size is under-building the foundation for the rated 1.9 SG load - verify the slab first.
