A pump that stays flooded on 130 gallons

• Pump and suction: on a tank 49 inches tall the head above the base fitting is short, so pump placement is the whole game. Put the pump below the fitting, keep the suction leg short and level or falling toward the pump, and do not ask it to lift out of the top of the tank. A diaphragm or centrifugal pump on a shallow tank loses suction in the last inches, so a low level float or dry run cutout is the cheapest protection on the install, and on a crew tank that gets drawn down to nothing it is the part that saves the pump. Flood the suction before the first start rather than dry priming it.
