The Snyder Industries 130 Gallon ASTM XLPE Heavy Duty Vertical Storage Tank is a crosslinked polyethylene vertical storage tank built for heavy-duty water and liquid storage. It holds 130 gallons in a compact 29-inch nominal diameter (29 x 29 in footprint) and stands 49 inches tall, so it fits tight equipment rooms, well houses, and corners where a wider tank will not go. The molded-in specific gravity rating is 1.9, which is why this is called a heavy-duty tank: the wall is thick enough to carry contents far denser than water without deforming.

Will it work for your site?

Filled with water this vertical tank carries roughly 1,084 pounds, and the wall is rated to a maximum contents weight near 2,060 pounds at the full 1.9 specific gravity. On the 29 x 29 inch footprint (841 square inches), a fully loaded tank puts about 2.45 psi, or roughly 353 pounds per square foot, on the pad beneath it. Plan the pad and any elevated stand around that loaded number, not the empty shell. The tank is molded in natural white crosslinked linear polyethylene (XLPE). If you are unsure whether 130 gallons covers your draw-down or reserve, run the numbers with our Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide before you buy. For fire-water reserve duty, the NFPA 22 sizing guide walks through the discipline of sizing a private fire-protection reservoir.

Fittings and top-mount access

The technical drawing on this page shows the fitting layout: a flange, an 8-inch polyethylene threaded and vented fitting, and a manway. The top-mount manway with 8-inch access is a real convenience on a closed vertical storage tank, giving you a port to clean and inspect the interior without disturbing the plumbing. The vented top fitting matters here too, because a sealed vertical tank filled or drawn down fast can pull a vacuum or build pressure. Confirm every thread size and location against the drawing before you order bulkhead fittings or plumb the tank; both the flange and the 8-inch threaded fitting seal against a mating gasket or O-ring, and a bulkhead fitting is only as good as the gasket that matches the molded port. Aftermarket adapters that do not match the molded fitting are the most common install mistake on a tank like this.

XLPE and the crosslinking difference

This is a crosslinked (XLPE) tank, not a standard HDPE tank. Crosslinking bonds the polyethylene chains for greater impact and stress-crack resistance. If you are weighing XLPE against linear HDPE for your duty, read Snyder XLPE vs HDPE: When Crosslinking Matters. For an above-ground install, size the pad to the loaded weight using the framework in our concrete pad sizing guide, and the ASTM D1998 freeboard guide reinforces why you plan around real, loaded volume rather than the nominal shell.
