Why black, and why this shape

Black polyethylene keeps light out of the tank. For water stored outside that is the whole point: no light, far less algae, and cleaner water at the tap months later. It also protects liquids that break down in sunlight. The trade is heat. A black wall in full sun warms the contents, and this tank's service limit is 120 F, so in a hot climate put it in shade or on the north side of a building, and keep warm process liquids out of it.

At 36 inches across and 59 inches tall, it holds 200 gallons in a moderate footprint, a little under five feet high. That suits a spot against a wall, beside a well house or at the end of a downspout run, where a wider, squatter tank would crowd the space. What to check before you buy

1. The pad. Full of a 1.9 liquid it is over a ton and a half. It needs a flat, level base touching the whole bottom; see our concrete pad sizing guide.
2. Openings. No outlet or manway size is stated for this tank on this page. A black wall also hides the level, so plan a sight tube or a gauge. Tell us the connections you need and we will confirm the openings from Snyder's drawing before it ships.
