Where this tank earns its keep

A 1.9 wall at 250 gallons goes where the liquid is heavy and the room is small: a coagulant or an acid feeding a dosing pump in a water plant's chemical closet, a concentrated process liquid beside a machine in a plating or finishing shop, a dense brine on a skid that has to fit through a standard door. Under the tank the whole load lands on a 36 inch circle, so the slab is poured level and in full contact to the concrete pad sizing guide, inside containment sized to the tank where the liquid is regulated. Strap an empty 70 lb tank to structure the day it lands. The black wall hides the level, so gauge from a sender rather than by eye. Openings and what to confirm before you buy

1. Manway and vent. One 18 inch threaded vented manway on top, 64 inches up. Everything goes in through it and all the displaced air comes back out through it, so size the vent path to the pump that fills the tank; a fill that outruns the vent pressurises the headspace and pushes on the lid gasket.
2. Outlet. The manway is the only opening listed for this tank. Tell us the liquid and the draw-off you need when you order and we will confirm what can be fitted before anything is cut.
3. Headspace. Fill to the level the tank sizing guide leaves you, not to the manway. A liquid that arrives cool and warms in the tank needs room to expand.
4. Fill line. Land a dip tube to the floor rather than letting the stream free-fall 64 inches; a falling stream foams, splashes the headspace wall and wets the manway threads, which is how a gasket fails early. Snyder's drawing for 1008100N51 is on this page under Technical Drawing.

Put the name of the one liquid on the wall in letters a driver can read from the truck; a 1.9 rating is no defence against the wrong chemical.

Seventy pounds is a two-person lift off a liftgate, straps around the body and never a sling through the manway. Check the part number against 1008100N51 on the bill of lading. Set it on the finished pad rather than on gravel it will have to be dragged off later, then fill it with water to the level you intend to run at, hold it, and walk all the way around the base looking for a weep or a rocking corner before the real liquid arrives.
