What buys a squat 300: wash bays, service beds and low sheds

The duty comes first on this one, because nobody buys a tank 46 inches across and only 51 inches tall by accident. It puts 300 gallons into 51 inches of height on a 46 inch circle where the 1011200 shells put the same volume into 82 inches on a 35 inch circle, so it needs about a foot more diameter and gives back better than two and a half feet of headroom. Pumping out of a shell 51 inches tall

• The pump: with barely four feet of tank there is almost no suction head, and that is the single most useful fact about plumbing this shell. A self priming pump, or any pump mounted below the base of the tank so gravity keeps it flooded, is the arrangement that works; a pump set level with or above the outlet will cavitate, run hot and get blamed on the tank. Gravity to a lower vessel is better still where the layout allows it.
• Low level protection: fit a float, a probe or a simple run-dry stop so the pump quits with liquid still over the fitting. On a short tank the difference between flooded and dry is a couple of inches of level, so the cheap switch pays for itself the first time somebody walks away from a transfer.
• Outlet: the sheet lists the outlet as 1 Manway / Lid and publishes no bottom fitting diameter, material, thread or gasket. Tell us the liquid and the pipe you are tying into at order and the draw-off is specified then; no size appears on this page that the sheet does not carry.
• Access and limits: fill through a dip tube to the floor so a delivery does not free-fall and aerate the load, run the vent outdoors on anything that fumes and size it to the delivery pump rather than to the fitting, and hold the liquid inside the service limit of 120 F / 48 C.

Whatever fitting lands, the pipe off it is flexible for the first joint, because at 75 pounds the pipe is stronger than the tank and a rigid run will lift it, twist it or crack the fitting on the first cold morning. The first valve rides on its own support off the pad or the frame, never on the wall. Keep one spare gasket for the fitting on the shelf rather than in a purchase order. Keep the lid closed between fills so rain and grit stay out, name the one liquid on the wall in letters readable from the door, and put a light into the headspace every time it is open, because a black wall gives you no other way to see the inside of it.

That is one pallet position and the lightest tank in this batch at 75 pounds, so the receiving question is not rigging, it is whether the truck can make a dock or whether the tank comes off on the ground; say which when you order, because a liftgate booked in advance is cheaper than a forklift you do not have.
