A tank somebody opens regularly

A plating shop checking a bath, a nursery mixing a feed batch by hand, a truck-fill station where a driver watches the level, a wash rack where the tank is cleaned between products: somebody opens the lid often. At 50 inches a person standing on the floor can see the whole inside with a light, reach the wall to wipe it, and put a hose or a drum pump over the rim without a ladder, and none of those things are true of a tall shell. That is why the low shape sells at the same volume as the taller ones. The low shape spreads its load over a 47 inch circle, a gentler bearing pressure than a narrow shell puts down, but plain water is still 2,752 lb and the rating still allows up to 5,229 lb, all bearing on the whole floor of the tank. Engineer the slab per our concrete pad sizing guide, level and in full contact, inside a berm sized to the tank wherever the liquid is regulated, and remember that a wide tank on a pad with one low corner puts its whole load on that corner. Restrain it even though it is short; 85 lb empty slides.

Pump placement when there is only four feet of head

1. Pump. No bottom fitting is listed on this tank, so the draw is over the rim: a drop pipe to the floor with a foot valve and a strainer, into a self-priming pump standing on the floor beside the tank. With a little over four feet of liquid there is not much head, which is why the pump choice and the suction routing are the engineering on this tank. 2. Run-dry protection. A level switch set above the floor. At four feet of depth the difference between a working suction and a dry one is a few inches.
3. Manway. One 18 inch threaded vented manway at 50 inches, the lowest working lid in this family. Fill down a dip tube to the floor so the stream does not foam, and vent outdoors on a fuming liquid, sized to the pump filling it.

The tank ships LTL at freight class 300 from Snyder's plant at Chowchilla, CA, 47 by 47 by 50 inches on a pallet at 85 lb. The freight cost estimator gives the lane cost to your ZIP. At the tailgate, check the part number against 1008200N48 on the bill of lading, walk the wall and the manway threads for transit damage before signing, and fill it with water the first time before it carries anything else. Label the wall with the one liquid the tank holds, carry every line on its own stand rather than on the rim, and put freeze protection on the piping and the first valve rather than the body.
