A working vessel at working height

The thing that makes this tote a good day tank is the 47.25 inch height. The 22 inch manway sits at chest level, so an operator opens it, drops a suction lance or a level probe in, takes a sample and closes it without a step or a platform, and the same person can get a spray wand and a light inside to clean it at the end of a run. The 42 by 48 inch footprint is the pallet module, so a forklift carries the empty tote away and sets a full one in its place in a few minutes, which is how a tote-fed line keeps running through a changeover. Stainless is the material for that duty when the product changes between runs and the vessel is washed each time, when the product is a food, beverage or cosmetic ingredient, when the specification calls for stainless contact surfaces, or when the liquid is one polyethylene will not hold. If the product is water, fertilizer or a common chemical that never changes, a polyethylene tote does the same job at a fraction of the weight; the 330 gallon Ultratainer tote is that alternative.

Plan the connection before the tote arrives. The body is 304 and the valve is 316; check the liquid against both grades. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 2 inch 316 stainless ball valve, factory fitted low on the vessel, the feed point for the line. Fit a quick coupling and support the hose on its own bracket so the valve carries liquid, not hardware. Keep it closed and capped on the forklift.
2. Inlet. A 2 inch access port on top for a closed refill from a delivery hose or a transfer pump. Confirm the thread form with us before buying adapters.
3. Manway. 22 inches, vented. The vent is the breathing path as the valve draws the tote down; keep it clear and never blank it. The opening takes a lance, a probe, a wand and an arm.
