A factory outlet is at the factory's height, on the factory's side, in polypropylene; a blank tank lets the installer put the bulkhead exactly where the pump sits, in polypropylene, PVDF or a lined fitting as the liquid demands, and add a high-level port or a second outlet, all with a hole saw and a bulkhead kit. Rotationally molded polyethylene tanks are sized to ASTM D1998, and the sheet rates this wall for liquids nearly twice as dense as water, so brine and coagulant are covered as well as water. The 1002100C126 is the other general-grade 5,000 in this shell, 100 pounds lighter, and the 1002100N30 the sulfuric acid resin. The fittings list
- Outlet: none installed. Drill the bulkhead on a flat of the wall, low enough to drain and high enough to clear sediment, with a hole saw sized to the bulkhead kit; a flexible connector and an expansion joint to hard pipe, and the valve supported off the slab.
- Access: 18 inch lid, 154 inches up; filled by truck through a dip tube, vented outside on anything that fumes, and size the vent for a tanker's unload rate.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
Drill with the tank empty and dry, deburr the hole, and set the bulkhead gasket on the inside of the wall, hand-tight plus a quarter turn; overtightening a bulkhead in polyethylene is the usual first leak. The white wall shows the level in daylight; fit a sender read at ground level so nobody climbs for a number, and fit a low-level float switch so a pump never runs dry. Keep the lid closed against vapor loss, and keep the tank out of direct sun where the liquid is light-sensitive. In a cold climate the outlet valve and the first run of pipe are insulated or drained; the body takes ice from the top down without harm.
Vent first, then fill
The driver's pump can deliver faster than the lid vent can breathe, so the vent is sized for the unload rate or the fill goes through a dedicated top bulkhead with its own vent line. The fill pipe runs to the floor so the liquid does not free-fall and foam. The first delivery into a new tank is watched from start to finish, with the slab edge and the new outlet fitting checked as the level climbs, and each delivery after it is logged with its date and strength.
What goes in it
