Twelve feet of floor, no ladder
Low means wide: a 142 inch circle in full contact with an engineered slab, carrying 63,801 pounds at the rating. In return the tank is the easiest 5,000 gallon vessel to live with: the manway is reachable from a short step, the empty shell is stable in a gust, and a tanker's dip tube reaches the floor without a long drop. The siphon outlet lets it stand in a containment basin with no clearance under the fitting. Look up the density of the liquid at the concentration you buy; under 1.5, this is the right wall. Ports
- Outlet: 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting with a 2 inch reducer siphon tube to the floor; a flanged transition, an expansion joint, and a valve supported off the slab. A siphon outlet needs a pump or a prime; it does not gravity-drain below the fitting.
- Access: 20 inch threaded, vented manway, reachable from a short step; size the vent for the fill and draw rates.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
Ninety-three inches of head is a modest gravity feed; a pump does the work on a low tank, and the siphon outlet needs one anyway. A white tank shows its level in daylight, and an ultrasonic sender on the manway has an easy job at this height. Fill through a dip tube, keep the vent clear, and prove the siphon on the water test.
Where you will find one
